- Try white cloud brand from Walmart-they are the best.We tried every other brand and my son leaked out of all of them-so far these have not been a problem-and he is 20 months old! They are alot cheaper too then like Pampers and Huggies.
- the pampers swaddlers are really good. thats what i used.
- buy Luvs or Wal-mart brand pampers....... Get a couple of N-newborn size and a couple size 1 bags. Then you can go from there. Good luck!
- I am pregnant myself and I have been looking for good diapers to buy. I think we will be buying the Huggies Newborn diapers. They have a little cut out part where the umbilical stump will be so it wont rub the baby. And I think a pack of 40 runs about $10 or so at WalMart. I wouldn't buy too many diapers though. My grandmother bought some for my cousin when she had her first baby and when the baby was born they had to take all the diapers back because the baby was a little chunkster.
- I've always used huggies. Their priced well and I've never had any problems with them. If you wanted to buy diapers I would go with stage 1. Usually you will get enough diapers from the hospital, friend and family to keep you for a month. Congratulations and Good Luck
- Just today I price compared at three different stores. Sam's club was just about a penny cheaper than target and wal-mart (per diaper) but I didn't even see Wal-Mart BRAND diapers... Anyway, I am due next week and don't have any idea which ones are best...just that the ones at Sam's were the cheapest...does anyone know how much the ones at Wal-mart are? The wal-mart brand ones I mean? Then I could compare that too since I never even saw them... UPDATE: Sam's club was just about 15 cents per diaper (Huggies I think). According to the one woman below (I was rechecking since I need to buy diapers in the next week or so I guess!), the Wal-Mart brand ones are 14.2 cents a peice...so cheaper than sam's even. And they appear to be a favorite among mom's here...just FYI since I am a cheapo!
- the child will go thru about seven to ten as a newborn daily, but you will get diapers from everyone so don't buy much...start to but lots of 3 to 6 month clothing, you cant have enough of this..we had 2 children...luckily they were both girls,so many clothing was handed down from older sister...
- Get pampers newborn, or even pampers premie (if you expect a child under 8 lbs) just buy ONE pack. Visitors often bring diapers as a gift because they don't know what you already have, but they KNOW you'll need diapers and wipies. I used full sized washclothes and warm water for wipies. It was the most gentle and the best not abrasive scraping action for that creamed corn baby poo! They were really easy to rinse out and soak in the sink until I had time in the afternoon to do a quick load of towels. ALSO, buy a few cloth diapers for emergencies! You will thank yourself for having them on hand! Don't forget the pins and plastic pants or get the ones with built in velcro (which I didn't like because they somtimes came undone and scratched up the baby)
- here's a website for great deals on bulk diapers (and formaula too) www.1800diapers.com now, we tried just about every brand, both expensive and cheap. The cheaper brands aer just as good. My 6 month old doesn't really leak any of her diapers (but then again I check her constantly-lol). If I can tell you one brand NOT to get is the Pampers with that scented Baby-Dry strip. It gave my daughter a rash when she was 2 months old. Make sure whatever brand you choose, it doesn't have any dyes or perfumes. It's really not necessary and can irritate a tender baby's bottom.
- I have 3 kids- we use the REGULAR HUGGIES< nothing but Huggies, because- they are the best, PLUS- I liked going up one size because you will change the diaper every 3 hours, but you are certain not to have leaks if you go up a size.- by leaks I mean overflow
- BUY ALOT!
- I've been told by many people to not go out and buy the expensive diapers because they go through this so quickly that it's not really worth it. I'm 25 weeks along, and everyone I spoke with have said that the Walmart newborn diapers are the way to go and work just as well as the expensive ones. This is coming from some pretty snobby people and teachers (who are generally anti-Walmart because of their union issue and harrassment we get from their company related to our union.) I'm not a huge Walmart fan, but I plan on stocking up on some newborn and size one diapers soon. Don't go crazy though with how many diapers at first, it depends on how big of a baby you have to as what size you buy, and you don't want to have a ton of newborn diapers on your hand that you aren't going to use, or have to store a ton of size one diapers because it will be awhile before your little one fits into them.
- i would get a good brand. the $ saved on the cheap ones only means you change the baby more often and use more diapers in the long run, or they will leak. i always got huggies regular and when they began to sleep through the night huggies supreme. starting out i would only get maybe 2 packs of newborn, then a case or so of the next size up.
- I had a 1 year old baby, and soon after my baby was born my 12 year old son made his science proyect about "What diaper brand would absorve more" and he tryed LUVS, Pampers, the Target brand and my favorite Huggies Supreme, and according to his scientific research Huggies absorves more than any other brand. I can tell you that it is true, I love the Huggies Supreme, not only absorves more but also doesn't make my baby have diaper rash, he hasn't had any problems at all. They are a little pricy if you compare them with LUVS and pampers and other brands but I can assure you , you will be very happy with them.
- A new baby, how exciting! Depending on how big your baby is I would get two bags of newborn size and two of size one. If your baby is over 8 pounds you may not even need the newborn size. Although the newborn size is up to 10 pounds. Size one is 8 - 14 pounds. Just remember to save your diaper receipts and not open the diapers until you actually start using them. That way you can exchange what was too small for what your baby will fit in. I like Pampers brand the best. They didn't have the Swaddlers when my kids were that tiny but I would get it now. I've tried Luvs, Huggies, White Cloud and some other generic brand but I didn't like any of them better than Pampers. Also remember that babies pee ALOT at first. You need to change them every time you feed them or more often. You may just want to lay them back down asleep but you will end up changing all of their clothes later.
- I always bought the diapers with the suzys zoo characters when the were little and when they got about 6mos i bought the pampers. Huggies has the best wipes. I would only buy one pack of newborns and then start with size ones. Try to find a sams or bj club to get diapers and formula in bulk it will save you a bundle on baby supplies
- You can't go wrong with pampers. My favorite diaper is cruisers. Baby can move around and nothing ever leaks, and when they get to that age where they try to take it off its pretty difficult. Every mother likes different things you will find which one you like the best.
- I make diapercakes for a living.....and believe that a lot of people go with the namebrand diapers until they baby is into size 2. Either Pampers or Huggies are great....Pampers are soft whereas Huggies are a little more firm. You get more for your buck with Huggies.....I like them better, too. Once you are into size 2.....start checking out the store brands. Wal-Mart makes Parents' Choice brand and I actually like these diapers a lot for my little girls. True story....my girls have been wearing the Parents Choice brand for a while and I ran out of diapers last week. I put my 11 month old is some Huggies I had left over from a cake I had done for an older baby. The Huggies leaked!!!! I NEVER have that problem with the Parent's Choice. So....at least try them. If they work you will save a lot of money!! By the way....let people know you want diapers at your shower (if you are having one). Ask the person throwing it to ask people to bring a small thing of diapers with them. Most people will love to do this because they remember the hassle and expense of the diapers.... Also, all the diapers in a diaper cake are usable by the baby. If you haven't had your baby shower yet....consider having a diapercake as the centerpiece. Better than flowers....and USEFUL too!!!
- Huggies are soft but when my baby number four comes i have to say the Walmart Brand is just as nice. I like the Velcro of course the cloth like they come in a yellow package. I know your excited you have a happy delivery and enjoy being pregnant. I know your ready to hold your baby but pregnancy has its own beauty also. I would get a small package to start with of anything i got. This time next year you will be giving other new mommies advice. Have fun before you know it March will be here.
- We tried every type of diaper with my son- and went with Huggies...they were the only ones that never leaked. My sister has a one year old and swears by the Target brand. Only buy one or two packs in the newborn size, but you can buy a few of size 1. If you have a large baby you may skip using the newborn size completely and go straight to size 1.
- I, too, recommend the WalMart Brand (White Cloud) in a purple package. A case of 104 is $14.74 at my Walmart. I saw above someone recommend the 1-800-DIAPERS site. They have an E-bay store and I purchased some through there and was NOT AT ALL happy with them. My son peed through all but one of the dozen or so I did use. If you're having a shower, I'd wait to see how many diapers you receive as a gift, I was overwhelmed with newborn diapers for my first child, and go from there. Figure up to 10-14 diapers a day.
- When I had my son 8 months ago, all that I can remember is that the hospital gave me like 4 bags of diapers. Which I had to end up buying preemie diapers for the fact that he was just some over 5 pounds. But when I finally got home, everyone that came to visit me brought me a pack of diapers. So I really did not have to buy diapers. But you will need alot of diapers. So I would buy a few packs of each size. I would buy some preemie diapers if you are going to have a child that is under 6 pounds. But the type that I like the most is huggies. I tried every other brand and they seem to be not that good. And they would seem wet like on the top of the diaper. And the huggies seemed to keep him dry over night. They are some priceier than other diaper brands. But they are very good in my opinion. Hope that this helps you. Congrats on the expectant baby!
- As a father of three who has changed hundreds of diapers, I would recommend using any of the cheapest brands (for the quantity). They will hold well enough untill they start on solids ,then a huggies or comparible brand is better to contain the surprises. Our 6 month old currently uses size #3 and 8-12 pampers each day, also all babywipes and laundry soap for her are unscented to avoid reactions or rashes.
- I have eight kids and have used pampers most of the time. I have tried other brands, but they all either leak or baby ends up with little gel pieces all over him/her. get some of the swaddlers (pampers), but no too many because babies grow sooooo fast at that age. For the first few weeks I used washcloths with warm water instead of wipes. Babies have really sensitive skin. Carrie http://www.about-down-syndrome.com
- i used huggies since my kids had sensitive skin and were allergic to every thing else! the newborn huggies also have the convenient cutout for the umbilical cord! just make sure to save receipts so you can always return or exchange if needed! good luck and congrats
- i buy 2 cases of huggies stage one it like almost 200 in a case remember thow babies can go threw about 80-90 diapers a week !! they work and dont leak..pampers will leak along with white cloud and walmart brand diapers any cheap diapers is not going to hold if they pee or poop really big ..i have 2 kids and ive tried every diaper out there to find the perfect one ..huggies i love i have one on the way in march also!
- I learned, through having three little ones, that the hospitals have diapers of different styles and sizes for the newborns. Baby sizes and shapes are unpredictable, so I would recommend waiting until after delivery to find out what the baby likes to wear at the hospital, and then send the family out to get the ones that work the best... mooch off the hospital for experimenting while you are there.
- Any good diapers are good diapers. But the doctors said to me, you dont want tp change different diapers all the time. The baby develop a rash. because you baby's skin is use to the ingredient product that is in the diapers.Just stick with one brand name diapers. As for the amount of diapers. We did bulk diapers at Sams for $30 for a pack of 198diapers as oppose to $14 for pack 36 or something every other 8 days. IF it fits your budget do it. See about WIC for Formula too. At Sam's $22 for a powder canister as opposed to A$6-$8 for 16oz. per can at a grocery store. You have to shop around for the best possible deal. Sam"s and other warehouse dont take coupons but you local grocery store. that helps too. And good luck!!
