Diapers Q&A

Diaper covers for cloth diapers?

I am going to use cloth diapers when my little one gets here and I just a have a question... What is the best diaper cover you use.. and what is the cheepest way to do it..? Do you use a Pro Wrap (that only fits that size then) or do you go ahead and get a wonder wrap (that fits all stages) ???? Because also with the wonder wrap it has cloth inside already.. I am looking for something like the prowrap that you can just wipe off and put another insert in and wash the wrap about once a week... Just what do you think is the cheepest way!

  1. Hands down the best deal I found was through a diaper service. They drop off this odor free can (you'll want that) and pick up dirty ones and replace with clean 3 times a week!! In my area (this was Maine) it was 20 bucks a week!!! I saw huge savings over using pampers. The service provided the little covers also (they sold them to me for a buck each). Google diaper services and see what is in your area
  2. We just used plain old gerber plastic/vinyl pants (http://www.pottytrainingconcepts.com/31GVP-z.html) to cover up the cloth diapers & they worked fine. Buy them new off e-bay to get a good price. Throw them in the washing machine & dryer with your towels & things to get them clean.
  3. I am sorry to say that there is no wrap that you will wash once a week. If you are using prefolds and laying them in the wrap with no snappi or pins, just about every time and infant poos you will be changing the wrap... Given that...Pro wraps work fine. We were perfectly happy with them and they are economical. If you want a less expensive wrap of the "non-adjustable" nature you can also try Dappi wraps. You can buy 6 on ebay NIP for about $20. Good luck with the diapering! We had a service with the first baby and found it expensive. I have made all of my diapers this time and am laundering at home, it is much more cost effective.
