more cloth diapers question...?
I was told that the prefold are the one that has a "thicker" part in the middle is that true? I got some cloth diapers as a gift for my baby, and they are just woven cloth, like a quilted material almost. If this is not consider pre-fold, do we fold them the same way? Thank you.

- It still might be the prefold you typically have to wash and dry the diaper 5-7 times so it can gain its absorbency and so it can quilt up, shrink. When they are new that middle thicker parts feels the same as the outside part until it is washed. Also when you wash them make sure you use a "free" detergent... like Arm and Hammer Free or something similar... not dreft or anything that contains additive or perfumes. As for folding it, good places to learn more about cloth diapers are www.diaperpin.com, www.diaperswappers, www.cottonbabies.com and www.mothering.com I have been cloth diapering for only 4 months, but I find it insanely easy. I have even converted some of my friends to cloth diapering by them just watching how easy it is. We use prefold with Bummis and diaperap covers and Bum Genius 2.0 one size pocket diapers (love them).
- If they are pre-folds you should be able to see an area in the middle that has been sewn in. Also, you should be able to tell by feeling them that there are more layers in the middle than on the sides. If they are not pre-folds then they would be flats. There are different directions for folding flat diapers because you need to fold extra layers into the middle for this type of diaper. http://www.punkinbutt.com/index.php?cPath=61217_61230&osCsid=9atr7ou2s56gvt89rl308ltkf2
