Diapers Q&A

why is it that you can buy cloth diapers everywhere but you cant find the rubber/waterproof pants?

yo9u cant use the cloth diapers if you dont have the waterproof pants to go over them. I'm a g'ma who wants to use cloth diapers instead of disposables all the time. I've been to every store I can find that carries baby items,sears,toys-r-us ,walmart, k-mart, meijers, j.c.penny's, etc... I just want something waterproof/ leak proof to use over my cloth diapers. Most folks use them as burp cloths.

  1. You can buy them at Babies R Us or Toys R Us. Also Wal-Mart.
  2. I found them at Babies R Us and Target
  3. *lol* Most people don't use the rubber anymore because it doesn't breath. Plus even if they do they don't look like the ones your mom used http://www.parentingbynature.com/cloth_diapers.php#covers Types of Cloth Diaper Covers Unless you are using pocket cloth diapers or an all-in-one style cloth diaper, your diaper will require the use of a cloth diaper cover. Diaper covers can be used several times before needing to be washed, unless they smell and/or are soiled. Simply hang them to air dry between uses by rotating with another cover. By the next change the original diaper cover should be good to use again. Cloth diaper covers can be a wrap-style which you wrap around the cloth diaper of your choice, and secure with velcro or snaps (such as a Stacinator Wool Cloth Diaper Covers or Bummis Super Whisper Wrap), or a pull-on diaper cover which is pulled on over a cloth diaper (such as an Aristocrats or Bummis Whisper pant). A wrap-style diaper cover is usually a bit easier to manage than a pull-up cover. A very popular type of pull-up cover, however, would be a wool soaker. The decision of which cloth diaper cover to use typically depends on the fabric. So, let’s talk about the types of fabrics cloth diaper covers are available in, as that is the next choice you need to make when setting up your cloth diapering system. http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/ http://www.comfybummy.com/
  4. I don't think they make plastic pants anymore. The cloth diapers you can get at Walmart/Target/K-mart etc...most people I know only use them as Burp Clothes. Unless you are using a cloth diaper service, I believe most people using cloth diapers are using ones like Fuzzie Bunz, G-Diapers, and other kinds that don't require Pins or plastic pants. There's all kinds of new wraps and inserts etc... on the web.
  5. I found a pair at Walmart once but that was like 5 yrs ago. Try Once Upon A Child if theres one in your area. But other wise if the cloth diaper company doesnt have them to buy or use, I dont know what to tell you.
  6. Rubber pants are no longer used. They have covers called "wraps" that are made out of PUL (polyurethane laminate). It breathes better. You can usually find them online. Many, many people still use prefold diapers as diapers. Not everyone uses them as burp cloths, even without using a service.
  7. you find find the waterproof wraps to go over cloth nappies at sears, babies r us and wal-mart
  8. You can buy wool or fleece diaper covers that are soft and breathable. "Plastic pants" defeat the purpose of cloth diapering, if you ask me. http://www.diaperpin.com http://www.diaperswappers.com http://www.diapertraders.com
  9. Are you using Gerber prefolds? Those don't work very well at all, I would suggest you go to www.diaperswappers.com and get some help starting your diaper stash up. We used Unbleached Chinese prefolds for newborn with fleece covers, then we moved on to pocket diapers (www.fuzzibunz.com) They don't make the old "plastic" pants anymore. They are called diaper covers. I ordered all of our diapers online.
