Diapers Q&A

Cloth diapers?

I am considering trying cloth diapers. Can anyone recommend a good brand? How are all-in-ones as far as leaks and price? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  1. I personally use disposables, but I have been checking out changing since my baby boy has had a persistent rash. I have taken a keen interest in G-diapers..... good for the environment, pretty snazzy looking, though they do seem a bit pricey. It may just be worth a look!
  2. ok i don't care for the all in ones i can never seem to get them totally clean and they take forever to dry. i love love love the bummgenius one size pocket diapers. they fit from 6 lbs to 35 you just adjust it with a snap. i cant swear by that bc i only used them on the biggest setting but they are the best. if i couldn't use those i would use prefolds with a Imse Vimse cover. but i have never tried wool which allot of ppl swear by. btw the cloth diapers you buy from walmart and target are not the same as the ones you find online the like Gerber ones do leak bc they have foam in the middle......not very absorbent
  3. I did try cloth nappies but found that they leaked and my daughter did end up with a rash, I went to huggies and now she is in cheaper ones and only once did she have a little rash and she is nearly 3 so I think disposable ones are great. I just brought the cloth ones from Target, k-mart, big W and the liners for the inside from there to and you can also get clips now instead of pin so you don't prick bubs or yourself, for me the cloth nappies cost $20 for a pack of 6 and the liners cant remember but they are cheap, nappie sand $6 and a bucket cheap from bunnings. Where you are might be different.
  4. i have been using cloth diapers with my daughter since she was born and she loves them! (shes 9 months old now). I use a diaper service. For $50 a month a lady comes every thu. and picks up the dirty ones and drops off a weeks supply of clean ones. I dont have to wash or soak the dirty ones at all. All I had to buy were the diaper covers, which are pricey but they last forever until your kid grows out of them! I used the disposable ones for a while but she would get a rash. I don't think the cloth ones leak any more than the disposable ones do...Its not as inconvienent as it looks!
  5. I have the same problem...too many choices, I can't make any sort of decision on what to try, and the initial start up costs for most brands are pretty high. So I've tried a few since yesterday, the Fuzzibunz seemed to leak, but it's possible I waited to long to change it or that I didn't have it fastened correctly. I put my son to bed in a Bum Genius tonight so we'll see what happened with that in the morning. I'd suggest checking on ebay- some moms sell the diapers they didn't use or like for reasonable prices- so you can check a few brands out without breaking the bank.
  6. There are so many good brands out there....but it really depends on what works best for you and what fits your baby best. Kissaluvs worked well for one of my twins but not the other. Fuzzibunz didnt work well on my oldest but did on my twins, and dont on my newborn.....it varies so much! I would recomend getting some used ones from: www.mothering.com www.diaperpin.com www.diaperswappers.com You can try ebay too, but most times, new diapers go for alot, and they arent allowing used diapers much anymore on there. Getting them used will allow you try more and you can get decent ones for a great price! You can contact me if you want....I have hundreds of diapers in lots of different styles and brands and sizes (I have 4 kids in diapers) that I can sell for cheap :)
