Diapers Q&A

Cost increase of basics?

Anyone have comments or explanations on why the costs of basic items have gone so high. I don't mean gas but groceries and personal care items. Milk? Fresh veggies? Tampons? Maxi pads? Diapers? Formula? What is happening? Anyone feel the American way of life is slipping down hill because of the changing prices of everyday items? My family's solution? I 'm moving to a farm to grow my own organic food and drink milk from my own cows. I'm getting a sewing machine to replace $10 in pads every month with cloth. I home school my kids since public school isn't worth it........Yes, for my family, the clock will go back into the past..... I love USA but I'm feeling let down. Why do certain industries get federal bail out money to reward consumers with high prices in such basic needs? Best answer will comment on economy in an intelligent manner, not on my family, OK........

Public Comments

  1. The costs go up do to the fact that fuel costs more and that is a part of the production/transportation costs of all items. It also goes up do to wage increases such as unionization. Homeschooling your kids is fine but you will still have to pay the tax bill for education. Organic is fine if you have the land or ability to pay a higher rate for them. Organic takes more land to produce the same yield as fertilized.
  2. everything is trucked in from far away places on trucks who use gas.
  3. it's called inflation..I've been on my own and paying my way since the mid 1960s..the cost of living has gone up but so did my paycheck
