How many dirty diapers do you change on a daily basis.....?

We only have one child and he's 5 months and from about 9-10am to 8-9 pm he poops 6-8 times sometimes more and he's formula fed.....does that sound like a lot?? I'm not worried the ped said it's fine..I was just curious about other babies :) Princess: He is 20 lbs

  1. My little girl poops 1 - 3 times a day, but she's only 2 months old. That does seem like a lot.

  3. my 6 month old has around 10 pee diapers and out of the 10 there are around 2-3 poo's in them .......and she is formula fed too.... thats per day....

  6. that sounds about normal to me I never worried about how many times they did poop it was if they didn't poop that I would be more concerned about.

  8. That does sound like a lot, especially if he's formula fed. Both my girls were formula fed, and my oldest pooped once every 2-3 days, and my youngest poops usually once a day. But every kid is different - does the poop look normal? If it's fairly solid, a normal color, and a normal odor, then that's just the way he's made. If it's consistantly loose or looks or smells really off, I'd have him looked at.
  9. I read that the average number for a newborn is 12 which really surprised me as my children have never gone through that many on a daily basis! My son is 11 week old. He sleeps through from 10 until 8 so doesn't ever need a change until the morning then goes through around 6 nappies during the day. Edit: 12 nappies - not 12 poops :)
  10. My son pooped that much too. He's two and he still goes about 3-4 times a time. We are working on potty training now, but on average I have always went through about 8 a day. To most people that sounds like more than average, but I always like for him to be clean and dry. Once he sleeps through the night(if he isn't already) you will go through less.
  11. My 2 month old only has BM once about every 3 days. When I asked my doctor about it, she said she was not so concerned about the number of times she had a BM but more about the type; soft, hard, runny, etc. I know formula fed babies do tend to have more BM's but I would still check with my pediatrician.
  12. WOW, nice lol..my son poops every other day. Sounds like quite a bit to me, but i'm sure there is nothing wrong , as long as ur doc said that..but nobody here will know FOR 100% SURE obviosouly..so i just telling you what my nearly 5 month old boy does. note, prior to the last month...he would only poop once every 6 days. only time he pooped like your baby does..is during his first month. I mainly use formula, but he nurses 3 times aday, but only gets about 2-3 oz each time.
  13. it sounds like more than any of mine did, but all kids are different. The key is the consistency of the poop. As long as it's not watery and expelled with a lot of force it's probalby normal for your little one. If he's got a lot of gas when he goes and or if it's runny he may be having issues with his formula. Before you switch him, give your pediatrician a call and see what he/she suggests.
  14. I have a two year old boy and twin 6 month old girls. I sometimes change 9 or more dirty diapers a day. I think I change them too early before they are done pooping. So I don't think it's really how many times they poop during the day. Speaking of which... I smell something...
  15. to me it sounds like a lot i am not a doctor or anything but my child is 6 months and he normally poops 2-3 times a day but i also feed him food if you are worried call your pedatrician and ask that is what they are there for and anyways it cant be bad if he goes to the restroom that much all kids are different
  16. Wow I wish my baby atleast poop 2x a day, I get a poopie diaper about every other day.lol. She has about 8-10 wet diapers a day. How is his weight ? If he is in a good weight percentile even with all the BM's he should be ok. Just has a high matabalism. But I would call the Pedi and talk with them. Good Luck! --EDIT-- Oh the Pedi said its ok..Great!!! Ok so what is your secret lol. Like I said I get a poopie every other day , If that. I cant help but think dang is she backed up or what? cus once she lets one go , man its a doosie. lol. I wish she could be more like her daddy :P (not going there sorry) ***here we go with everyone getting thumbs down** THAT BABY DOESNT POOP ENOUGH!! THUMBS DOWN!!! .Is there someone who goes to each question and gives everyone a thumb down..lol...its not like we lose or gain points for having a up or a down...DURRRR :P
  17. Johnny's diaper schedule changes every day. Sometimes he doesn't poo at all... Sometimes (like yesterday, sheesh) he poo's 5-8 times a day. It sounds normal to me! :)
  18. My son is 8 months old, weighs about 20 pounds and is formula fed. He only poops once a day. He has gone that many times a day pretty much his whole life. As long as you asked his pediatrician and he said it was fine I would not worry about it.
  19. it's normal and it will slow down. my son is 14 months and he poops about 2 to 3 times a day. every baby is different; as long as they're going you're OK. the only time i would worry is if it is diarrhea because he could get dehydrated.
  20. That does seem like a lot..........a lot of work for you!!!! I wouldn't have any concerns at all. My kiddo is 7 months and poops about 3-4 times a day now. He has a new trick where he poops at 4am everyday - hooray! (Dad gets that one) He is 1/2 breastfed and 1/2 formula fed - and lovin the solids.
  21. <-13 months, 23 pounds. At this point, 1-4 (depends on teething which is now frequent). About two months ago she was down to 1- always after breakfast and possibly a second after dinner. As her teeth have finally started to come in it has gone to the 'scheduled' two (this girl is *so* self-regulated in all things, it amazes me) to possibly a third and occaisionally even a fourth. But always, at minimum, that one in the morning! That's the one known as 'the big load' :) and it is so very regular I have been thinking of buying a potty and just 'poopy' training her. (I figure, she is smart enough to go into the corner and become quiet for several minutes before walking out and making little 'stink' faces, she just might be ready to go to the potty instead of sit behind the living room chair). The more he goes onto solids, the less frequently he will have a dirty diaper. It sounds like it's definitely within the range of normal for his age.
  22. My baby averages 1-3 poopy diapers and 8-10 wet ones. It does sound like a bit much to me, but all babies are different.
  23. 2 year old poops like 1 or 2 times a day. right now hes on antibiotics and had been pooping 4 or 5 times a day and its really really nasty. My 3 month old poops about every 8 to 10 days. But shes breastfed. but trust me her every now and again poops are like 5 poops all put together. nice!
  24. Wow, your little one is a pooping machine. I hope you buy your diaper wipes in bulk! My breast fed little pooper is five months (I think 10 days older then yours) and 16lbs. He goes an average of once a day, though sometimes he will skip a day or four. Other times he will go 3+ times a day. He definitely pooped more when he was on formula. As for wet diapers...we go through about 8 a day.

  26. my baby sometimes poops 3-5 times a day. sometimes she goes 5 days without. i think its all ok as long as its not hard (constipation)
