Diapers Q&A

What is the difference between Pampers Swaddlers and Pampers Baby Dry diapers? Which do you prefer?

I'm stocking up for my son who is due in July and don't know which to purchase.

  1. I asked a question like this before & everyone says swaddlers are way better than baby dry. I used Huggies Supreme for my son & didn't have a single problem with them. But they say Pampers are better for girls.
  2. I would definetly start out in the Pampers Swaddlers. I am not too sure about the Baby Dry, but I know the Swaddlers are wonderful! It keeps all the poop and pee off their little bottoms, helping to reduce the risk of a diaper rash significantly. They only make them up until the baby reaches a certain weight, but I definitely recommend them!
  3. Swaddlers are wayyyy better!! They have the stretchy tabs!
  4. I liked the Swaddlers in the beginning. You have to change them so many times that there is no need to spend more on the Baby Dry. Baby Dry keeps the moisture away from the baby's bottom and holds more. Perfect for overnights when they sleep through the night, or at least 4-5 hours at a time (maybe 2-3 months). I prefer Baby Dry for my son at night, who is very sensitive to wetness. The protection part is in the right area for boys. I don't like them for my girl because the protection is too far in the front and she leaks up the back. I love Swaddlers for both of my twins (during the day for the boy, all the time for the girl).
  5. the Swaddlers are thinner and leak more than Pampers Baby dry have used both prefer Pampers Baby Dry between the two however I personal am now using Huggies .. Best Wishes with your new bundle of joy take care of him and yourself
  6. I prefer Huggies. Pampers gave all 3 of my kids red lines on their thighs. My mother-in-law usually buys whats on sale for the size 1's for us. I told her all for all 3 kids not to buy pampers anymore. I noticed that they didn't absorb as much and the jell would crumble out. I never have this problem with Huggies. There have been a few times that I would leave him in his wet [huggies] diaper for way too long (because he was asleep) and I still didn't have a problem with the diaper falling apart.
  7. i think pampers baby dry is better
  8. First off...don't buy too many in the NB size. Who know's how big baby is going to end up being or how fast he'll grow. I used swaddlers with boy my kids, boy and girl, and I loved them. I also used baby dry for both of them...they worked ok for my boy and not well at all for my lil girl. Personally, I prefer pampers over huggies and swaddlers over baby dry. After they grew out of the swaddlers I used pampers cruisers for both. They stretch with your baby but never loosen, so at night, I have no leaks with either child. And since you are having a boy, you really just need to be concerned with the protection up front...and you get that with the swaddlers.
  9. When my baby was first born I used swaddlers, but now I use Huggies Gentle Care Cuddle Weave. They are wonderful. 3 month old baby
  10. I personally lik the swaddlers better. I also like pampers baby wipes. The lavender ones are very nice. However if you are looking for a good lower price diaper White Cloud is also very good. Also do not buy too many newborn sizes because babies outgrow them very fast.
  11. We used Swaddlers for our daughter. We liked them better bcuz at the time, the Baby Dry didn't have sides that stretched, which made them fit weird. They may have stretchable sides now, though. But, until our daughter was out of size 2 diapers, we used Swaddlers. You can really feel when the child's wet or dirty in them. Once she got into size 3, we started using Pampers Cruisers, which are great, too.
  12. Pampers swaddlers are considered the "premium" line of Pampers diapers and are a little more expensive. Pampers Baby Dry do not come in a newborn size and start at size 1. If you like the swaddlers, the next step would be to move on to the cruisers. I used both Swaddlers and Cruisers with my last 2. They both have thick chunky thighs and I think the contoured shape fits better for them. I do not care for the baby dry because they leave a gel like substance on your baby when they pee in them. You should try both and see which you like.
  13. I haven't tried the Baby Dry yet, but I love the Swaddlers (my son peed right through the Huggies). I've been told that Baby Dry or Cruisers are better for when the child is more active (crawling or rolling), while Swaddlers are better for newborns. If it helps, my son weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces at birth and used three large bags of newborn size diapers before we switched to size one. I suggest buying two bags of newborn size, saving the receipts, and then seeing how big your son is at birth -or- if you are having a baby shower, have a diaper raffle so you don't have to buy many diapers.
  14. Swaddlers are pure wonderful, my daughter can have a wet diaper and there is hardly any wetness on her bottom, and when she poops its not everywhere.
  15. I would seriously recommend AGAINST stocking up on diapers in advance.... all babies handle diapers differently.... no matter what you read on here, the world's greatest diaper might still not work for your child. I also stocked up on packs and packs of diapers before my child was born.... I had a boy and he leaked out of all Pampers diapers. Now they're all a waste and I only use Huggies. Boys and girls all leak out of diapers differently. I would suggest you buy maybe ONE pack of something that comes highly recommended for boys (Huggies Cuddleweave worked perfect for me), and then within one day you'll be able to tell if they work and someone can run and get more for you,
  16. Well first of all they don't start the baby dry size til size 1 or 2 I believe they only make newborn swaddlers... at least I've never seen the pampers newborn in anything else. I definately liked pampers swaddlers up until my son went into a size 3 then they didn't have swaddlers anymore but now that I started trying other kinds... I honestly hate all huggies types except for Snug n Dry... which I have fallen in love with. If you have a son leakage protection is so important and I have found that the cheaper brands just plain suck.
  17. I loved Swaddlers and was sad for us to graduate to size 3 because they don't make them in 3's. I used Swaddlers from preemie to size 2. I tested all others out in between, but nothing compared. At size 3 I started out with Baby Dry, but then figured out that I liked Cruisers better. I never was completely happy with Baby Dry or Cruisers, so I tried Huggies Snug & Dry again and have liked them on my bigger baby.
  18. Swaddlers are more expensive but they are softer and more clothlike and contour to the baby better. Baby Dry are just plain old diapers. They get the job done. But I prefer to use the swaddlers the first couple of months because they seem more gentle and soft on baby.
