Diaper bag, onesies and baby dropping?
Tomorrow I will be 36 weeks pregnant and have a few stupid questions. I have the hospital bag packed, but what should I pack in the diaper bag? Also, what are all the uses for onesies? Should my son always wear on under his clothes? And this morning my stomach doesn't feel as hard as normal. Does this mean he has dropped? As you can tell, this is my 1st baby and I want to be prepared. Thanks in advance! Ok. I guess I wasn't that clear. I have everything for the hospital and ride home packed. I am wanting to know what I should have in the diaper bag for everyday use. Thanks again!

- me and you are due at the same tiime i will also be 36wks tm, with the weather being hot you can just dress you son in a onesie and socks and a blanket and he shoud be ok..they mess up there clothes alot so thats why you need so many and in my son diaper bag i have diapers, 2 outfits and 2 blankets and socks and some caps
- No question is stupid if you really don't know the answer. An outfit to go home in, and maybe a seperate outfit if you want to take pics in the hospital.... diapers wipes
- pack a nice homecoming outfit as well as a few baby gowns or sleepers. Babies usually wear onesies under their clothes, unless its really hot, then they may only need the onesie. Generally, an newborn needs one one layer than you unless it is really hot. Your baby may have dropped, the best way to tell is if you feel like you can finally breathe again, but you have to pee every 5 minutes.
- I packed a diaper bag for the hospital.. I am taking a few receiving blankets, a coming home outfit, a few onsies, pacifier, a knitted blanket from my aunt to bring her home in. mittens, and hats... they will provide you with alot of the basic stuff. Onsies are good as a second layer under their clothes to keep them warm or to wear alone if its hot.
- if it's chily and the clothes are he's wearing is going to expose skin than yes wear a onesie under neath and only pack his going home outfit and one or two diapers and a few wipes also a spit up rag. He wont need anything else on the car ride home. The hospital is really goood about making sure you have everything you need for the ride home. They'll even give you a few bottles of formula for the ride home. Probably diapers and wipes too.
- onesies are great they can be worn under clothes or used as a shirt.. they make it easier to change the diapers and are cheaper than most clothes ... as far as you dropping u can feel presure on you cervix and peeing more often and you stomach not being as hard could be a sign as well .... are you leaking any fluids?
- You should put diapers, blankets, clothes to dress the baby in upon leaving the hospital,a bottle and that's all you should need.LOL i'm sitting here asking my parents as i am 10 weeks pregnant with my very first so i didn't know on my own.I'm not sure about if the baby dropped. And as far as onesies my mom said she always put all of us a onsie on but it's your choice.
- Ok first of all calm down its gonna be ok you'll be great. Ok hospital bag----diapers, clothes, burb rags, blanket, wipes, pacifier...onesies are just like any other clothes if you want him to wear them put them on him if not done he's your baby he wont die if hes not wearing on haha...yes he probably has started to drop a little its fine hes just ready too see his mommy....Good luck!
- Honestly, all you need is a night gown for you, some extra thick maxi pads, the hospitals suck, a onsie for baby, and a comming home outfit, pluss a few diapers and whipeies. Thats all you'll need! Oh and loose fitting clothes for the trip home for you, make sure you bring extra underware, sometimes heavy bleeding spillovers can really eat though how many you have... You'll know if you have dropped by the huge pressure in the lower part of your body, you'll need to pee more often and it will feel very heavy and you'll feel more off balance. You may even feel stiffer than usual.
- make sure they moneter you the next couple of weeks. my wife an i lost our baby a month ago with only 9 days to go. check the cored . any pain go to the hospital.
- In the diaper bag you really don't need much. The hospital usually will hook you up with: receiving blankets, if you're bottle feeding; formula in ready feed bottles with nipples, lotion, diapers and wipes... all that neat stuff. You may want to pack a couple of receiving blankets for the ride home and a suit to take he/she home in. Also, some diapers and wipies if you have a specific preference. Leave everything else at home ready for when you settle in. Congrats!! Enjoy the hospital while ya can cause once you get home there are no more nurses to come help (unless you're just gonna hire one lol)
- I'm going to be 36 weeks Sunday... I packed: diapers wipes 2-3 onesies diaper cream nursing pads receiving blanket coming home outfit My sister always puts onesies underneath her sons outfits... If your baby spits up a lot while eating you can take off his/her shirt and just let the onesie get the drips that miss the bib... Plus it will be hot when we deliver, they may be wearing just the onesie for naps and around the house since it will be so hot...
- Everyone has given you good answers. The only other thing I can think of is a baby book. With both of my children they put the babies footprints in their baby books for me. : ) And, the doc signed it.
- u can pack diapers but usually the hospital sends u home with them .Does the baby feel like its in ur pelvis? if so u have dropped.
- As far as the diaper bag make a quick call to the maternity ward at the hospital. They sent us home with a bunch of diapers and wipes and we didn't need to bring anything for baby other than an outfit to wear home. Some hospitals differ though so I would call and ask. Onsies are great. I've never put them under either of my boys outfits. They make really cute ones now that you just use as an outfit. They are great for summer or if you live in a warm climate. Or they go great under overalls or little shorts or all by themselves. I can't answer part III of your question as I never went into labor on my own ~ induced twice! Good luck and congratulations! ***EDIT*** Just read your additional details... Everyday diaper bag you need a few diapers (depending on how long you'll be out, but at least 3), wipes, diaper rash cream, receiving blanket (they don't take up much space and you never know when you might need it) and an extra outfit/socks. Feeding supplies (bottle or two, water and formula if bottle feeding), maybe a small toy or two to entertain baby if you're stopping somewhere. I found a great product at Walgreens... they are called underpads. You get them in the aisle with the incontinence products. They are a cottony material with a plastic backing and are disposable (you get about 25-30 for $8). I keep a few in the diaper bag just in case I have to change a diaper in a public restroom ~ those fold down changers can sometimes be a little questionable when it comes to cleanliness. I just use one of these to lay baby on and toss it when we're done. Huggies makes a similar product but they're much more expensive.
- A couple diapers, wipes 1 or 2 clothing changes. Onesies are fantastic, they are easy to put on and take off, perfect for warm weather and inexpensive as they will get stained, you can't have too many of them. A good thing to do to help pass time in the hospital is start making your address list for birth announcements, you will be glad you got this out of the way once the baby comes. You may have dropped, if you are feeling more pressure in your pelvis. Best of luck to you!!
- Most hospitals will give you a bunch of bottles of formula so check with your hospital to see if that is customary. When you think about it, the diaper bag will just be for the trip home. The entire time the baby is in the hospital, he is cared for by the nurses (aside from you occasionally changing him and feeding him) but all those supplies are usually provided for you. Again, check with them. If you don't have a long trip home (my sister and her husband had to drive an hour home), then don't worry about a bunch of stuff. A few diapers, a pacifier, a spare change of clothes and a burp cloth or something. Make sure you take your carseat with you...most hospitals will not allow you to check out without that. Your hospital should have a seminar or a class for expecting mothers to acquaint yourself with them. See if one is available to you before your due date. Onesies are wonderful during the warmer months b/c most are lightweight and comfie for the little one. You'll find out the first time you put a two-piece outfit on your squirmy-worm (as I call my nephew...now 8 months) that a onesie comes in handy as an undershirt b/c your baby's back or stomach will constantly be exposed unless his clothes are all snapped together. You'll be constantly pulling his shirt down and they just look so uncomfortable. Trust me, once you have this child, you will quickly learn about your baby and his/her needs. Don't worry too much and while it's great to take other's advice, remember that you can do your own thing once you learn what your baby needs. Good luck and congrats!
- I'd recommend having 3 (yes 3) going home outfits (1 newborn, 1 0-3 months, 1 3-6 months)--just in case the baby is bigger or smaller than expected. You can use onesies as the outfit, especially around the house when it is warm and under clothes when out and about when it is not so hot. If you are out when it is hot, use your comfort level on deciding to use a onesie (if you are too hot in just a tank top, then baby would be too hot in a t-shirt (which is what a onesie is) under his clothes. In fact, I'd recommend NOT taking a diaper bag to the hospital. Just put everything for the baby into your bag. Less stuff to juggle when leaving the hospital. Next appointment, or call and see what the hospital will provide. Most hospitals will provide diapers--take the ones not used home, wipes (hint--wet the gauze before using it (that is what they give you for wipes)), formula if you choose not to breastfeed.
- Onesies are great and very functional and convenient. I know lots of parents who always have a onesie on the baby. Some do not. Onesies can be worn as an outfit or part of an outfit or an undershirt. It all depends on what mommy wants to do really. There is no rule about how to use a onesie. As for the diaper bag, the hospital will have everything you need. But I would still pack it like you normally would plenty of diapers 1 or 2 changes of clothes etc... Other things you may need for the baby, wipes, binki, bottles, creams etc... you won't need all of that at the hospital, but then you will be prepared when you are ready to leave. As for if the baby dropped, I can't tell you that.
- No sincere question is stupid. Unless your ride home from the hospital will be quite a lengthy one or you plan to stop somewhere on the way home, I suggest you don't bother with a diaper bag. Put the coming home outfit in your own hospital bag. Everything else you need will be provided by the hospital. All the things leftover from his hospital stay will go home with you so you'll have diapers, wipes, pacifiers, sample formula, bulb syringe, etc. Some formula companies even provide a small diaper bag as a complimentary gift for new babies. In the beginning, you'll want to skip the onesies until his umbilical cord has fallen off. Regular t-shirts (what the hospital dresses newborns in anyway) are good until the cord has fallen off. You can usually snag a couple of these from the bassinett if you don't want to buy a package of them. A diaper, a t-shirt (not a onesie), and a receiving blanket will suffice a newborn in hot weather. If it is hot where you live, just a onesie with a diaper may be all your baby needs at first, but if you want to dress him up in clothes, skip the onesie unless it is chilly. Many of the little romper outifts already snap at the crotch and too many snaps can be bulky plus ruins 2 clothing items if he has a blow-out of a poopy diaper - pretty normal in all babies, but especially so in breast fed babies. So, at the hospital, before going home, use all the hospital supplies, clean diaper, wipes if needed then put on his going home outfit just before leaving the room. After you get him in the car, you'll likely not need anything until you reach home. Maybe you'll want a burp rag if he just ate, but he'll probably sleep all the way home. Skipping the diaper bag is one less thing to carry home and you'll have an awful lot more to take home than what you came with anyway - flowers, hospital goodies (they always send home pads and all the other things used for your personal care - if they don't pack them for you, take them as they are yours to keep, including the water pitchers and basins) and the most important thing, baby and car seat. I am mom to 4 kids. The first 2 I packed an entire diaper bag to go home with and never used one thing from it. The last 2 I had my husband bring the going home outfit and the special blanket (my grandma made one for each of her great grandchildren) back with him on the day I was released. A less firm stomach could mean your baby has dropped, but even if he has it could still be a good month before he actually arrives. Having a baby is an exciting time. I always liked to be prepared, too, but experience taught me to not over pack since you use relatively little of what you bring and the hospital has nearly every type of supply you'll need. With my 4th baby, I actually went into labor during a doctor's appointment when they were doing an insertion of prostoglandin gel given in hopes of getting my cervix to soften since I was 41 weeks with Gestational Diabetes. I went into labor and gave birth in 7 1/2 hours with no suitcase or anything but my purse and what the hospital provided.
