what do you think is the best brand/type of cloth diapers and why?
I'm looking right now for our next baby, and I'm finding everything totally overwhelming.

- I've heard a lot of good things from friends who use cloth diapers. Diaper exchange offers them at affordable prices and a lot of different types. Good luck with your little one!
- I use Fuzzibunz (Pocket diapers) they are really great because you can use different inserts for day/night and the inserts come out for washing so the whole thing dries a lot faster. I bought ours from diaperswappers.com (email me if you are overwhelmed by it since it is a big forum) our 7 month old is still in the size small and we have only spent about $150 on our total diaper stash for that time. I really thought it would be a pain to use them but they are very very easy to take care of and very cute 8)
- All in ones (AIO's) are great for convenience and the pocket AIO's are great for being able to stuff extra inserts into for extra absorption during naps/nighttime. I am currently using a variety of diapers on my 24 month old. I have some Motherease one size with snaps (they require covers), I use prefolds with a snappi fastener and a cover a lot during the day when we're at home and we also have several different types of WAHM pocket AIO's. The covers I'm currently using are Bummis and they work well enough, I guess. They scratch my son's leg a little so I would prefer to have something else. We have #3 on the way and I have bought some Thirsties pocket AIO's to try (but the baby isn't due until Sept. so I don't have a review for these yet), I also bought Thirsties covers to use with our prefolds. And have purchased some more WAHM AIO's from the same people I already have diapers from.
- Hey, I'd go to diaperswappers.com and there's a huge message board community that has probably about any answer to any question you could possibly have. They also have Swapping/buying/selling boards for diapers to get them at cheaper prices. :) Enjoy!
- I've tried the pocket Fuzzibunz and Bumgenius 3.0 and think that I'm going to buy more bumgenius. I like that they are adjustable and that they go on just like a disposable. I haven't had any leaks with my 3 month old son. Good luck and thanks for helping save Earth! **Be sure to check out charliesoap.com for detergent for cloth diapers - you should use regular detergent because residue will build up on the diaper. I like charlie's soap so much that I am using it on all of our clothes now! No sneezes for me since I've used it!!
- I really LOVE bumGenius 3.0! My only regret is that I didn't buy them sooner. The best part is that they are "one size fits all" so you don't have to worry about buying different sizes. I also love their inserts, very absorbent. My daughter is 14 months and wears bumGenius. I would like to warn you about a couple of things though (that I found out while researching about cloth). Many parents find it difficult to find a "perfect fit" for their newborn babies (during the first two weeks or so). Also, wait a few days for your baby to lose ALL his/her meconium before putting him in a "fancy cloth" diaper. It will be VERY difficult to get meconium off! I'm expecting my second child in December and planning to use disposable diapers (seventh generation chlorine free) for the first week or two ONLY before I'll switch him/her to cloth diapers. P.S: diapers.com is a great website to buy new cloth diapers with free shipping for orders over $50 and you get $10 off your first order. Also, you can read customer reviews. Good luck!
- it depends on your budget, time you want to spend/how many days to go between washes. with the dry pail method, you will be able to go longer, with the wet pail method, you still have to change the water everyday - staying in water constantly weakens the fibers, etc if you have unlimited resources - you can go with AIO's, AIO's one size, or pocket diapers. using a budget prefolds and diaper covers - for me - the prefolds are also the easiest to use. there are many types of covers to choose from with prefolds (or flats even) in my experience the prowraps covers leave a babys leg red - skinny or chubby i have found a very budget friendly cover that works great for me - the dappi diaper cover and at night i use wool covers if you want to i have heard good things about the g-diaper - some people use the liners (which is kind of like buying disposables all the time) or using with flat folds - which to me, is what the cloth diaper concept is all about. i have 5 dozen prefolds, 8 daytime covers, and when pushed i can go up to 4 days between washes - i usually do every 2 days - but with an infant, errands, dr's appointments, etc - it does not always work out - i also do not have an odor problem - use a foot pedal garbage can from target and garbage bag - speaking of odors, i have 1 happy heiny one size pocket diaper - with that - i do have an odor in that diaper when my baby is wet it is totally overwhelming - i started researching them when i found out i was pregnant - so i had 8 months - i finally decided prefolds, and they are working great for me
