How many diapers should I register for?
We are going to have a diaper party (I am 8 months pregnant), and I want to register for diapers so that I don't wind up with 10 of one size and none of another size. What would be a good number of each size to register for so that I don't wind up with extras, and what sizes should I register for? Also, other than wipes & diaper cream, any diapering accessories I should be thinking about ? (First time mom here!) -Thanks!

- just get lots of the newborn stage because you will have to buy more anyway because believe me they dont last as long as you might think
- LOTS of each!!! Start with size 1 because they don't stay in newborn diapers long at all!! None of my babies even had newborn diapers in the hospital. But they will go thru size 1 pretty fast too. I say a few of size 1 more of size 2.
- you will need lots of newborn diapers, because newborns go through alot of diapers. You can never have too many of those.
- Get 2 small bundles of newborn 2 megapacks of 1s 2-4 megapacks of 2s 2-4 megapacks of 3s Cute party idea!!! ;-) Get a LOT of wipes and diaper cream. That's the best advice I can give you.
- You don't want too many newborn diapers. He/she will grow out of them quickly.
- you will go thru ALOT, TONS, of diapers. I never bought newborns. I started with size 1.
- register for as many newborns as possible (you can always take them back and exchange them for bigger sizes)...you'll go through more than you expect and you may want to try different brands to determine which ones you like best (I preferred Pampers Swaddlers)...Babies R Us/Toys R Us are great about exchanges without receipts as long as they aren't open...the number 1 diapering accessory is a Diaper Genie or some other diaper pail system like it--it's a life saver (or at least a nose saver)
- diaper bag, if you are only using disposables that's all you need or if you are going "green" cloth diapers, diaper pins, plastic (water proof) pants, you need less of these, cause you can wash them and use them again. disposables you need a hundred of each size, cloth you need 50 and wash them over and over
- How many?? Haven't a clue - LOTS!!! lol It's been too long to remember #s. There are these cool warmers for baby wipes, so you aren't using cold wipes on baby. Also baby powder/corn starch is something good to have. A diaper disposal system is really neat. The changing table could be considered diaper related and also a diaper bag. Just some thoughts. Good luck to you.
- As far as sizes, I have a two year old and we have to buy a larger size about every 6-8 months, i believe. As for the accessories, look for a Diaper Genie. Changing table, if you can yield space for it, wouldn't be a bad idea either. It's not much but I hope it helps.
- Spit rags! lol As for diapers maybe 4 large boxes. Babies sometimes grow too fast ;-) Also make sure you have a nice diaper bag!
- They grow so fast, and if you end up having a big baby the newborn size might not even fit. I'd register for 1-2 smaller packages of newborn, 2-3 packages of size one, and a LOT of size two, three and four -that's what you'll be using the most. My daughter is 8 1/2 months old, average size, and she's in size 3 and has been for a few months.
- well, they use more early and i would take as many as you can tote! seriously - several (5) packages of the smaller ones (swaddlers). 5-10 next up. i got so many diapers i thought it was ridiculous but i used all of them. i prefered Pampers though so many of the other brands i just kept as backups when i would run out of the ones i liked. P.S. Pampers swaddlers for newborns are awesome! you need as many wipes as diapers.
- I would register for all mediums because your baby will not stay in smalls very long, but mediums last a good 6-8 months or longer. If you do register for mediums and get tons, don't worry because your baby will eventually grow into them. I ran into the other problem when my first baby was born. She weighed 3 lbs. and did not fit into newborn diapers until she was at least 6 months old. I had to order preemie diapers.
- One good thing about diapers; You can often go to the store and trade for the size up if they are outgrown. It is hard to tell how long a baby will be in any size diaper...my 9 month old is currently wearing the same size as his two year old cousin, so obviously, he was out of the smaller sizes much sooner. I recomend a take along diaper mat...not one of the big fancy ones, just a small one you can put in your bag. You never knwo what shape the changing tables will be in, if they even have any! Also, a travel pack for the wipes is handy. Good luck ^_^
- I wouldn't worry about registering for diapers if you are have a Diaper Shower...more than likely, you will lots of each! If you end up with unopened packs that are too small, you can exchange them for correct size! I received a Diaper Shower and it was the BEST gift I could have received!!! I did not have to buy diapers for about 6 months! Which was a HUGE savings! ($16-18 per pack!) One gift that I was given that I would NOT recommend (at least for a baby boy...) is a wipe warmer. I have friends that told me they loved it!!! (I think they all had girls...) The warm wipes seemed to encourage my little boy to tinkle!! Then you have to use the diaper for a shield...and you wind up using up your diapers quicker!! :o)
- ok I found that I changed my baby's diaper way more her first month then I do now. so register for a BIG box of newborn size diapers or a couple of jumbo packs. also, several packages of size 1 and size 2. just to give you an idea my baby is 5 months old and wears a size 3 already. but she is big for her age.
- you go through 6-7 in 12-24 hours, so calculate from there.
- You do want newborn size but be sure to ask for the larger size diapers because you don't want 10 packs of un-used newborn sized diapers sitting around. Size two or even three is great cause any size you get you will use!
- You should register for newborn to size 5. Newborn 3 boxes, 1's three boxes, 2's 4 boxes, 3's 4 boxes, so on and so forth. They grow so fast you'll want to have all sizes available. Don't open a pack or a box until you're sure your baby needs to move up. Good Luck!
- it all depends register for more of the bigger sizes because they will be in them longer. it also depends on the size of the box a safe number would be 5 of each you might have to buy some hear and there. but every child is different. I'm a daycare teacher and for 2 year olds we have a diaper size range between size3 and size 6 as for accessories look for a diaper pail that seals out the odors.register for 2 diaper pails so that you can have them in different rooms, unless you use enough trash to take it out every day. a portable changing mat. wipe warmers are nice but you have to be careful they don't dry out your wipes. some type of changing table organizer is nice but not necessary. if you go alot of places but don't want a big diaper bag register for travel size baby wipe container and a diaper bag you like. i didn't register for a diaper bag at all and ended up with 3 or 4 diaper bags i really didn't use. i find that a back pack works really well, it leaves your arms free. congratulations
- You will go thru diapers faster than you think!! Think if you change your baby 7 times a day times 7 days a week thats 49 diapers. Lets just round to 50 a week. Thats 200 diapers a month, now lets walk through the stages of diapers. I 100% recommend Pampers brand diapers, they are the most expensive but well worth the extra $1 a pack. No leeks, no diaper rash (cheep diapers can bring on a rash in one day!) Swaddlers-Newborn (6lbs-10lbs) get 6 packs/1 1/2 months worth Size 1- get 8 packs/2 months worth Size 2-get 8 packs/2 months worth That should last you pretty good till your baby is 5 or 6 months old. It all depends on how fast your baby grows, if your baby is little you may be able to use the smaller sizes longer. But that is a best guess, you cant really predict it to much more than that! I love the Johnsons and Johnsons Bedtime bath product line. Its in a light purple bottle and it smells amazing. Not to mention it is soothing to baby. I would stay away from baby powder, not good for their lungs and if you decide to use baby oil get the kind that is thicker. J and J bedtime makes some. Oh, yeah you might need some alchohol pads like 1"x1" to clean the babies cord before it falls off. Congrats on the baby to come!
- I got my cousin's GF a wipe warmer and she liked it so much she got a second (split level home). As the other mom warned, if you have a boy, you might get some extra tinkling (well you do anyway), so just always keep a cheap, washable covering to place over baby boy while changing. Don't get anything above size 3 for the simple reason that there is actually an expiration date on diapers. Congratulations!
