Diapers Q&A

As a babysitter, did you ever have to change cloth diapers?

I always babysat in my younger years, junior high school, senior high, and even when I was in college. Some of the homes where I babysat used cloth diapers, while others used disposables. What type of diapers did you have to deal with when you babysat?

  3. No, thank goodness! I've babysat/nannied for 6 years now, and I couldn't be happier to have avoided the cloth diapers. eeek.
  4. fortunately not cloth. they would have disappeared.
  5. I used to change my youngest brother's cloth diapers, but when I babysat other people's kids, thankfully they were regular diapers.
  6. Yes
  7. I used cloth diapers on my son when he was a baby.
  8. Yea. I've had to deal with both.
  9. When I was (much) younger, I used to babysit. Back then (in the good old days) disposable baby diapers were just coming into being, so most everyone I babysat for was using cloth diapers. I guess since it was the norm, it was just accepted that you had to deal with changing them and the messes that come with them. When I grew older and married and my wife and I had our first child, we used cloth diapers. To me they were healthier for the baby, less costly than disposables and nothing went to the landfill, which I have always had a concern about. As I got (much) older, I became incontinent (not, I'm not THAT old), it was caused by a medical condition that I have. I started out using disposable adult diapers but they were hot and uncomfortable to use and besides, one of those in a landfill is like half a dozen baby diapers. I made my own cloth diapers to use. Yes, I wear them 24/7, including to work every day. I cover them with a pair of plastic panties as well. I have to wash them 2 times a week, mainly because I don't have too many yet to where I can go longer between washings. I find that the cloth diapers are no more visible under clothing than the disposables and the plastic I use for the pants is very quiet, especially if you put a pair of underpants over them to help quieten them down. So. . . . . I guess the answer is yes then and still is yes even today.
