Diapers Q&A

What are the cheapest but good cloth diapers out there?

I was looking into all in ones but I just don't have that much money to invest in them right now so I'm going to go ahead and just use prefold with a diaper cover what do you recommend and is there a good website that shows you everything you need to know about cloth diapering?

  1. skip the cloth and go with the disposable. they are cheaper and don't make any difference to the landfill problem.
  2. They have some cloth diapers in wal mart they are kind of cheap but they are really good they are white and thick in the middle i forget the name but about 15 come in a pack
  3. I prefer fleece covers. Most cloth diapering mothers like wool, but my baby has eczema (like his mom) and wool does not feel good up against sensitive skin. Personally I don't think that AIOs are necessary until the baby starts moving around a lot, but a great alternative after they start crawling. I don't know how your budget is, but you can always get used AIOs or seconds. I bought some of mine directly from Swaddlebees as seconds and in bulk so I only paid $11 each and with free shipping. I've also purchased from this website that gives discounts when you buy large orders and gives discounts on all second orders.
  4. I disagree with the first post. THEY DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR THIS PLANET!! check out the links I left...Hope they help :) I use a diaper service which is GREAT. I didn't though for the first eight months. Oh and I buy gerber plastic pants (diaper covers) at walmart for about 5-6 bucks for six of them. They work great! I also left several websites for you to check out for baby diapers. Good choice by the way at least one more person out their cares about our planet :)
  5. Wow, people sure are ignorant. Of course disposable diapers make a difference in the landfill. The first week I started cloth diapers we had 2 less bags of trash! Anyway, back to the question- Baby Love diapers are great AIO's. They're less expensive than the better known brands (and are one-size-fits-all), have good protection, are trim and dry fast. They're what I use on my 13 month old and will use them on my next too. Kushies are also inexpensive, but I have heard only bad things about them.
  6. If you are low income, you can apply for Miracle Diapers. If not, check out their links page- they have a list of sites that sell affordable cloth diapers. http://www.miraclediapers.org/discover.html
