Huggies diapers stain clothes?
My baby is almost a year old and I just noticed a couple of months ago that the pictures on the Huggies diapers are rubbing off on my son's onesies and staining them. This started happening as he became more active so I only noticed it a couple of months ago. I do not buy Huggies anymore and am looking for a new diaper. What diaper has the least amount of color on it, but is still absorbent? Also, why do manufacturers think that we want cartoon pictures on our diapers? Our babies don't care about them and I certainly do not.

- my 2 year old has been using Pampers ever since he went into a size 3 (we use huggies from newborn to size 3 because I think they leak a lot less than pampers swaddlers do). We use the babydry, he's 2 now, and has never had a problem with a stain or picture rubbing off. I hope this helps. Oh, he never leaks out of his diapers, either, even when he sleeps for 12 hours straight.
- "Also, why do manufacturers think that we want cartoon pictures on our diapers?" It's just advertising. See Mickey Mouse over and over every day on the dipe; feel favourably about buying the candy shaped with mouse ears, taking a vacation to Disneyland, etc. It boosts brand awareness. "Seventh Generation" dipes have NO printed anything on them, and they work extremely well, diaper-wise. http://www.seventhgeneration.com/Diapers edit: we also do partial cloth diapering, in part in response to disgust with the commercial dipes, and that might be worth thinking about; cloth diapering does not have to be an all-or-nothing deal. I can find the 'Seventh Generation' ones even in the sticks, but it does take some looking. Health food stores stock them. At the end of my pregnancy I looked quite hard for a print-free generic and found nothing; 7th Gen are the only disposables on the market that I know of that are plain...
- LOL!!!! Love the comments about the pictures. I totally agree. The best diapers I have found with very few pictures are either White Cloud or the Walmart brand diapers (I am sorry, but their name escapes me. They are in a yellow package.) The White Cloud only has pictures along the area where you use fasten the tape. The rest of the diaper is white. I am all about generic (of course, it also took 2 in diapers to send me there.) I don't pay much for diapers anymore. I also switched to cloth part of the time but that was to save money and to help with diaper rashes. It's not an option or a desire for everyone but it worked for us. BTW, most of the money you pay toward the more expensive diapers is to pay for the rights for those companies to use those characters on their diapers. It's the same way when they put Elmo all over the green beans cans to get kids to eat them. The green beans in those cans are the same as the green beans that are next to it but you pay $.50 more because Elmo is on the package. It's just another fine way that advertisers try to take over the minds of our children so they can't think for themselves. They do the same thing with advertising during cartoons and such. God Bless. mom of 5 w/ #6 due Nov 08
- I noticed the same problem with Huggies, but it only happened with the 'Lion King' ones (I can't remember the size, 3 I think) We tried them again after they went up a size and it doesn't happen now (these have Mickey Mouse on them)
- "Also, why do manufacturers think that we want cartoon pictures on our diapers?" I've wondered this myself. I used cloth with my son, so I could pick the cover I wanted, and not have horrid licensed characted emblazoned on them. Have you tried store brand diapers? I briefly used White Cloud with my son, and they worked fine for him. Seventh Generation makes chlorine free diapers without licensed characters all over them. They're a bit more expensive, and you may have to order them online.
- I use Huggies too and yes, the ones with the Lion King pictures do stain (orange and black). I noticed that the Huggies #4 with Mickey Mouse do not . Look for diapers with prints on the waistband instead, not on the crotch area---- like Luvs.
- i always liked White Cloud diapers, you can get them @ walmart.. dont know what th epictures onit, but i know i never had trouble with picture transfer
