Diapers Q&A

What baby items did you get for free, and where did you find them? I got diapers from...?

I was given 4 cases of Huggies diapers by our Real Estate Agent when we moved into our new home (I was 8 months pregnant). I've also been given diapers by friends who had babies that had outgrown them. What did you need for your baby, and how did you get them for free? If you got them from a baby shower, what did you like best?

  1. Must be nice to be given something free, I had twins and go through a pack of diapers every 2 days, nothings for free
  2. I got some diapers and some little clothes at a baby shower with my first baby. That was it, then I was on my own for that one and the other 2 that came after. To me diapers were the best present because you go through so darn many of them.
  3. I signed up at baby.com and got a bunch of fomula and things diapers and a huge bag of things from the hospital hand me downs craigslist.com's free section and freecycle.org
  4. i have 3 kids and 1 on the way and i never had a baby shower with any of them and was never given anything other than a little outfit after they were born from family. I wish i could get diapers for free.
  5. I received tons of diaper from friends and family. I have a nephew that is 7 months older than my son. I told everyone please no clothes. My sister-in-law gave me all the clothes I needed. I got so many size 1 diapers that he outgrew them before we went threw them all. The best gift I got at the baby shower was my travel system. I couldn't live without it.
  6. I had the baby shower and friends that have given me things. You can also look on freecycle (go to freecycle.org to find your local area), or craigslist to find stuff that people are trying to get rid of.
  7. Wow - how incredibly kind of the agent! We had a bulk pack of Swaddlers diapers on our registry, and received them, but looking back, I probably would have put more out there, because we went through them in less than a week. :) We've received powered formula samples in the mail from Enfamil. If you sign up for their program online, they send coupons and samples. We also received some formula and a small pack of diapers from the hospital in our going-home kit. However, I would not consider that free, considering the fact that they are probably factored into room and board fees for labor and delivery. Baby needs are constant. It's a cycle of formula, wipes, and diapers, in addition to other things like meds. We don't receive any of them for free, though. However, we use any coupons we come across! To answer your question on what we like best, we use Pampers Swaddlers (did not like any of the others - they were not as soft or absorbant), Pampers wipes, and Nutramegin (a specialty formula by Enfamil for babies who cannot digest milk proteins well).
  8. I got almost everything I needed from my babyshower.......diapers, bottles, a crib, a bassinet, a play pen, burp cloths, clothes, toys, a swing........and the list goes on........I loved everything I got!
  9. Don't be afraid to check out freebies.com. Babies are expensive, but we'd be silly to all name our kid "Bill", lol.
