Diapers Q&A

should I exchange the store brand diapers I got at my baby shower or use them?

I have 6 bags of size 1 diapers that are not the brand I really like. It would kinda hard for me to have to drag all 6 bags and two small kids to the store to exchange them (hubby in iraq) should I just use them or go to the trouble to exchange them? Has anyone ever used the walmart store brand, white cloud, or luvs? Do they leak on girls? Why does everyone keep saying I won't go through that many bags of diapers? We have already went through 6 or more bags of size 1. And I'm sure we will go through at least most of the other 6 bags. I change my baby OFTEN so she don't get diaper rash. I guess some people don't. By the way my baby was 7 lbs 10 oz

  1. You will never use 6 bags of size 1 diapers... your baby will grow out of those fast!! Just take them back... it's worth the effort for 6 bags of diapers!!
  2. Use them, why go through the trouble of returning them? I've found they work just as well as most of the major brands - maybe not on big 2 year olds for overnights - but with a newborn you're going to be changing the diaper 8-10 times a day anyway so why not use them? They do grow out of the size 1s quickly, especially if you have a big 8+ pound baby but if you have a petite baby of 7 lbs or less, you'll be able to use up the 6 bags, no problem
  3. I love love love the white cloud brand! They are awesome. Comparable to Pampers. Never used Luvs so I don't know. Don't go through the trouble of returning them, just use 'em.
  4. We loved the Wal-Mart store brand (in the purple bag) while our daughter was small. As she got bigger, they did start to leak. I think for the size ones and twos they are great.
  5. Having gotten them for free, its a great opportunity to try a new brand. You may find that the inexpensive brand works better on your child. Luvs worked well for us, though we didn't like that the sides don't stretch like Huggies. Everytime my husband would go to Walmart he'd have to buy a White Cloud from the vending machine in the bathroom (he always insisted he didn't need the diaper bag because he was going to be FAST) and they also worked fine. In size 1 you change them all the time anyways so you'll go through them quickly.
  6. Personally, I would exchange them. But why dont you open one pack and try them and if they work for you then use them. If not, take them back, including the open pack, and tell the store that they leak and they will exchange them for you.
  7. i use luvs, i like them because they dont leak but i dont like them because they dont streach. about the store brand ones, i would put them in the newspaper for sale (if its free for spouses) and get some money for them. in the shower invitations you should have put what kind of diapers you needed. i do NOT like the parents choice diapers. they suck!
  8. I tried Kroger, White Cloud, Luvs, Toys R Us & Walmart brands for our daughter and all of them leaked and did not fit her right so all of the unopened ones were returned and exchanged for Huggies and all of the open packages were sold on eBay! I know that some people can use anything on their babies but for me they didn't work.
  9. I havent personally used White Cloud brand but my neigbhor does. She said she has no problems. I personally have switched to Luvs as my son kept waking up wet with Pampers. Luvs is all I buy. I say try them. By the time you load up 2 kids, drive to store etc is it really worth it????
  10. I used generic and store brands exclusively on my daughter. I never had a leakage problem. You should at least give them a try. Who knows, once you see they are good quality stuff, and you have been overpaying for a name brand, you might switch over and start saving some money!
  11. I used the walmart white cloud brand for my son since he was born (2 years ago) until we moved and got stationed in Germany. I loved them and wish I could get them over here. Never had a prob with leaks and they were the only brand besides huggies that didnt give him a rash. enjoy wallyworld, I didnt realize how much I would miss it
  12. Open one bag and try them. I know a few friends who used them and loved them. I've been spoiled by Pampers in the huge box from Sams, so I don't know. But before lugging them back, I'd try to use a bag. If you hate them, drag the rest back. If you like them, use what you can before the kid gets too big. Depends on how fast your little girl grows. You may use all of them. Take back what you don't use. WalMart will let you return for a while. You don't have to rush.
  13. I have two boys so I don't know if they are different for girls but luvs and the wal-mart brand both worked really well for us. You could always just open one an try them out...if you don't like them take the rest back.
  14. Store Brand Diapers? Why don't you try some and find out? Diapers are disposable, they're not a commodity to treasure. A kid poops in them and you toss them. You might not have the money or the time to run out and buy diapers in the future, so keep them if you're short stocked. Hubby in Iraq? And you want to complain about some free diapers that you got as a gift? How trivial.
  15. ok...i wouldnt go through the trouble of exchanging. Use what youve got. If you really dont like the brand you got, then by all means, exchange. But most diapers are the same, so I wouldnt worry about it. Im the 2nd of 8 kids and ive had my share of diaper changing. In my experience, boys tend to leak more, so again, i wouldnt worry about it.
  16. I've used them all..white cloud, parents choice, luvs, huggies, pampers..I like pampers for newborns...but usually when they are older I've switched to the parents choice because they are cheaper, they've only leaked because she needed a bigger size, as soon as I got her into a bigger size, I've had no problems with leaks! I would use the ones you have, if they don't work for you, take back the ones you didnt use and exchange them for what you think you would like.
  17. Personally I only used one bag of size one diapers, then I needed size two so I still have a couple of bags stashed away for the next baby. I've used two store brands (both canadian) one was good but the wrong shape (made for skinnier babies, not my rolly polly, so I had to roll the waist down twice *lol* but they absorbed well.) The other SUCKED. Do you have any family or friends you can sucker into exchanging them for some size 2 or 3's of a brand you like? That way it will look more like you are concerned about the size, not the brand.
  18. Just use them they will come in handy. it doesnt matter what brand they are just that they will hold pi pi in there
  19. I have a girl and I used Parent's Choice a lot since they are cheap and worked JUST fine. White Cloud isn't too bad, and I think luvs are fantastic. I'd just use them.
  20. I buy the white cloud diapers from Wal-Mart. They are pretty good I haven't had any leaks on my son. I change my son alot too. I wouldn't worry about it if you use alot of diapers. If you change her alot then they shouldn't have a chance to leak, right? I'd keep them.
  21. i say always go for pampers or seventh generation. they pull the moisture away better than any other diaper out there.
  22. I would keep the diapers, White cloud has worked great for my granddaughter. If you thing your baby will out grow the diapers before you can use them then return them. If not, would keep them.
  23. Sounds like you have your hands full. I haven't tried the Wal-mart brand, but my sitter friend does, and now so do the kids that go to her. They seem to love them. I have used luvs for my daughter, now in a size 2. I liked them, and they didn't leak. I think the kept her drier then the huggies I use, but the huggies are cut slimmer around the legs which I like very much. The only concern I really see, is that changes brands on a baby can cause a rash. IF you really like the ones your using, I exchange them! OH and I have 3 so I know what a pain it is!!
  24. I am a new mommy and I really like luvs diapers. As for store brand diapers, I've only used HEB brand and I like them. I don't know about white cloud. Don't get the ones from Toys r us that are generic they are very cheap as far as materials go. Maybe they tell you that you will not need that many diapers is because babies grow so fast maybe your baby will grow out of them. Maybe just try one bag and see if you like them. If not, you could make a diaper cake for someone who's having a baby for a great shower gift!
  25. First off babies as I'm sure you know it seems like you are a veteran go through on average 12 diapers a day or more so 6 bags of diapers that seems like you and who gave them to you are being smart. And most size ones go up to 14lbs so she still has about 6-7 pounds to go. Now I'm currently pregnant and its my personal choice and some will disagree but I refuse to buy Luvs they are in my opinion the absolute worst diapers not just for boys but with boys they leak so much and from friends experiences they leak on girls too. The WalMart brand I have never tried with my nephew me and my ex husband ( ex husband of about two years or so more now so not my babies father) we always used either Huggies or Pampers. Now that I'm expecting my cousin has told me that Pampers Swaddlers are the absolute best diapers there are and she picked me up a pack of 88 size 1's too lol, that and I have two 50 count things of Huggies size ones and only got one package of Newborn umbilical ones. But either way if you have the receipt and dont want to chance switching to something new or testing and ending up with loads of laundry then return them and get what you prefer and trust or if you dont and want to test them then save the receipt and try to make sure you dont open all of the bags of diapers at once so you can return them later that and if she goes through a growth spurt. =] Congratulations
  26. My daughter was 7 lbs 13 oz, and we've used White Cloud and Target store brand since we ran out of the Huggies and Pampers we got from the hospital. Pampers made her break out in horrible diaper rash (this was according to the resident pediatrician). I too, have gone through at least 6 bags of size 1 diapers, and my girl is only half of the way through the 8-14 lb. level. Her diapers have never leaked urine, although she's had a few bowel movements that have overflowed the side barriers or went up her back because she was being held in a strange position. Fortunately, my husband always seems to be the one holding her when that happens! :) Another suggestion-- give them to a friend or ask if any other wives of soldiers at your base could use them. Hope your hubby returns safe and sound to enjoy changing baby diapers with you!
  27. I say use them. Unless you baby is alergic then there is no reason not to use store brand diapers.I used wal-mart brand and luvs and both were fine.
  28. I used ALOT of size 1 diapers also. i used like 7 or 8 so dont feel any different. some people just dont know when to change their child and then they get diaper rash and they wonder why. but i would just use the diapers that u have and yes i have used luvs and i like them. my son is 5 months now and he weighed 7 lbs 12.4 ounces
  29. I have kids that i babysit that use the white cloud diapers and have no problems with them. My niece and nephew both use pampers but they both have really sensitive skin and break out from any other kinds. i would say to try one bag and if you like them keep them, otherwise return the rest.
