How long was your baby in newborn diapers?
I've been using the newborn diapers for 2 1/2 weeks now. It says on the package that it's up to 10 lbs and then the size 1 diapers says 8 - 15 lbs. When can I start using the size 1 diapers? It's just that I've got a lot of size 1 diapers and was just wondering how many more newborn diapers I'll need to buy. My baby is probably about 7lbs 5 oz now.

- Mine always started using the next size up prior to hitting the minimum weight. I wouldn't bother to buy anymore newborn diapers...your size 1s are probably fine. ***If she still has her umbilical stump, just tuck the top of the size 1s under so that it doesn't rub.
- I mostly depended on fitting. If the diaper seemed small, I'd get new ones the following day and put away the others (you never know when you'll need them again some day).
- For a while actually. My daughter is very tiny. She's almost 2 and is only the size of a typical one year old but there's nothing wrong with her at all. The doctor's actually like that she's so small. Her bone structure just isn't very big. She only gained a pound a month until she turned one and she was 7 pounds 3 ozs when she was born.
- I only used newborn until his umbilical stump fell off. After that it doesn't matter if you cover the belly button with a sz one. I think you will be fine to switch. They outgrow those size ones really fast, especially if you are breastfeeding!
- my daughter never wore NB diapers she was 8 lbs 6.6 oz at birth so we started out in size 1's. i would give her a little while longer in NB given her size (otherwise you might have leaks.)
- As soon as you feel your baby is big enough and the nappies fit well. My children grew out of their newborn nappies within a couple of weeks too.
- I would start when you baby gets to 8 lbs to avoid leaks.
- about a month but he is a big baby
- Go ahead try a stage 1 see if it fits alright...My guess says it will be just fine..My son started using stage 1 before he was 8 pounds..Just because the newborns were 2 small...I had alot of newborn extra...
- I remember that newborn diapers did not last long and they grew out of them very quickly. You could probably go up a size anytime soon.
- My son was 9lbs 2oz and birth and only wore newborn diapers for about 2 weeks before they just didn't fit right. Just be careful of the belly button with the size 1s. Fold the front down so it doesn't rub. Otherwise, it's perfectly fine to move up.
- Never! He was born 9 lb 5 oz, so they never even put him in them. Your baby is still very small, so you could use the newborn ones for a little while longer but. I would just buy maybe a small package of the newborn ones, then switch to size 1 diapers. The low end of the sizing is fine, but I found that if you get to the top end of the sizing, they start to make baby grumpy (they arent comfy if they are too tight!) Use your instincts above all! Good luck, ma!
- My son was in newborn for the first 2 weeks and he was born at 8 lb 5 oz, left the hospital at 8 lb 7 oz and never lost weight like a lot of babies do. When he fit into size 1 diapers he was almost 9 and a half pounds. You just have to use the weight as guidelines but not to the T because like I said my son was well over 9 pounds before he fit into the size 1 diapers...he's a very long and lean baby though and all babies are built differently. My friend's baby was 7lb 7oz but she's really short and stubby (she's so cute) and she was in size one from day one. As long as your babe isn't leaking through the newborn diapers then they are still doing their job :) as soon as they start leaking thats when you know you need to change. I figured that one out 10 diapers into a brand new pack of 88 newborn diapers....ugh....
