How many changes of diapers per day does an infant need?
I'm having my first baby in December and trying to estimate the costs of raising a child. If you have a child under 1 year old, how much do you spend on diapers monthly? How many diapers on average do you change a day? Ballpark of other costs will also be appreciated! ;)

- We always changed my son every 2 hours. My husband and I just couldn't stand that he would be sitting in a diaper full of urine. Sometimes he didn't need it changed. We were a little over the top I think. My son is now going to be eight so I can't give you a ballpark figure as diapers have gone up so much since then.
- our newborn went thru about 6 to 8 disposable nappies a day...until he was about 1 year old......if you buy them in bulk from a baby supply warehouse they are cheaper..
- Change when babie's diaper are dirty. Mostly babies change diaper 5 to 8 time a day.
- On average, we used about 8 a day, sometimes more when he was a newborn. Also, if your baby ever starts going to a daycare, they have regulations and must change the diaper every few hours. I think we went through about 6-8 a day there, too, plus 1-2 more once he got home.
- babies needs changes every 2 hours at least or when ever they are wet or poopy when my son was first born we used about 12 diapers in 24 hours as the need to be fed every 3 hours 2-4 oz good rule is change them after every feeding and when poopy diapers are expensive for 101 diapers its 19.00 at walmart that should last you about a week in a half
- newborns go through alot of diapers probably about 8 a day but they grow out of them very quick so dont buy too many nb or size 1 diapers! Its tricky but just expect to spend atleast 40-60 dollars a month..That doesnt include wipes..U will go through wipes like crazy...Good luck!
- The first 5 or so months, you'll be changing the diapers 6-8 times a day: once with each feeding, plus extra if he/she poops. After that, you can still do it once per feeding, but the number of feedings starts dropping, so you can get to about 5 times a day.
- 0-3m 7-10 times a day 3-6m 5-7 times a day 6-11m 5 times a day Details: I buy huggies for overnight and any times I know he will be in the diaper for more than 3 hours plus the generic ones for shorter periods, like when his diaper is full of pee and I know he is gonna poop soon. The generic brand I can get has the same speed in absorbency, but cannot hold as much pee and the poop can shoot up the back easier. In the US, I found that Pampers and Huggies were exactly the same diaper in level of absorbency and poop containment. However in Aussie/NZ I found that Huggies is much better than Treasures across the board.
- well that all depends on your baby on how much you change a diaper, at first it will probably be about 5 times a day. and depending on the brand of diapers you get will very in price per month. I use pampers it's about $20-$30 a box if we buy in bulk (which I highly recommend) the hospital will give you allot of diapers to go home with, also don't buy diapers until after the baby is born, my oldest wore newborns for a week and then was in size 1 my youngest wore them a month before we went up a size so it depends on the weight of the baby.
- I go through about 10 diapers a day. I get a big box case of Huggies, 264 count, size 1-2 diapers from Sams, for 40 dollars including tax. they last us about a month. during the day at home when I have enough energy I put her in cheap gerber cloth prefolds (the kind you can get at walmart) with safety pins and change that each time she pees, to let her butt breathe a little :) That saves a little money, and its good for baby's skin. I just wash them in with our towels. wipes I use Pampers sensitive, they come in a box of 7 packs for 12 dollars at walmart... they sell them at sams too cheaper but I forget how much, probably 10 dollars. Also when I'm home I use pieces of cloth with plain water (for pee not poop) I used my husbands undershirts and cut about 6 of them into 4 pieces each ((he had tons of these undershirts and way more than needed)) I just keep a tub (old buble gum tub from a convenience store, washed) with water that had been boiled in it and another to throw the used ones and cloth diapers in til I wash them.
- you can never estimate how much they will cost! especially when they get older but babys are relatively cheap, all they need is nappys and if your feeding formula thats why breastfeeding is good, but my daughter is 9 weeks old and she goes through about 6-10 nappies in a 24 hr period and im in australia and buy huggies which are the best and they cost around $40 for normal price and they have 90-100 in a box
- I go through at least 6 per day. My daughter won't pee then pooh in the same diaper but will do vise versa. Anyway I use Parents Choice so thusfar about $25.00 / month for 224 diapers.
- It's hard for me to think about how much I spend on diapers because I will get depressed! Now that my baby is 17 months, we don't have to change him as often. newborns, it seems every time they eat, they pee, so we were changing him every 2-3 hours the first 2 months. Then it was every 4-5 hours from like 3 months to 10 months. I use Luvs, they are the best I have found at preventing leaks. I used pampers swaddlers when he was a newborn, but they are so pricey! I hate the walmart/target/HEB etc... store brands. They seem stiff and harsh. I do like Costco's brand though and I get those (about $27 a box for a HUGE case) and they are so soft! I just don't live near one, so I don't go often. I spend about $15 a week now on diapers with Luvs. I was/am also a coupon queen! I try not to pay full price for diapers, formula, baby food,etc... I cut them from the sunday paper and look out for specials. Congratulations!!
- You never know sweetheart. First of all, im proud of you for bringing a new life into this world. Listen, once you see that new face and realize you have done a wondrous thing, cost is no option. But, don't be foolish enough to buy the most costly diapers they have, no matter what your in-laws say! The baby doesn't know who made the diapers and how much they cost. They are going to poop n piss as much as they need and want to. You are going to have to give up that control FAST!!! Because the baby doesn't know your budget or even cares. All the baby knows is you and how much you love he/she or how much they want to teach you in this journey! Love every minute of it, 'cause money and diapers are going to be the least of that babies worrys. BE YOU AND DO WHAT YOU CAN, EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO CUT BED PADS. DO IT!!! Trust me, if that baby is wet and uncomfortable, you will take off your T-shirt to make sure he/she is HAPPY. Key word being "HAPPY"!!! GOD BLESS YOU AND THAT NEW 'BEAUTIFUL' LIFE". As long as you ARE planning, you should be fine MOMMY!!!
- When they are first born, you can use up to 20 diapers a day, but as they get older, it is way less often. Maybe like 5? Hmm, I probably go through about 1 big box of size 3 every 3 weeks. The cost can be less if you use store brands like white cloud at wal-mart. I used those with my daughter, but my son is shaped different, so we had to go to the more expensive pampers to avoid leaks. But that's only 20 dollars every 2-4 weeks, so not too bad. I also buy about 1 huge box of wipes every month. I think that's 13 dollars. And breastfeeding is free. Don't be stuck up about new baby stuff, as they don't use it very long, and the used stuff is most often as good as new.
- Cost me just under $400 for 20 one-size adjustable cloth diapers that will last until toilet training.
