Diapers Q&A

If use cloth diapers on 19 months old, what to do when out and about?

I'm thinking of starting put fitted diapers on my dd during daytime so, she can feel them and if poop accidents, easier to get them off with snaps. At same time potty training her until she's more interested in wearing Gerber undies. What do you do when you are out and about with cloth diapers or Gerber Undies? Do I need to bring extra undies/cloth diapers and clothes? What if she has accidents while sitting in car seat? Do I need to get something for her car seat to protect the seat from her pees/bms? What about if I get diaper covers just to use for outings?

  1. 19 months is VERY early for potty training. I used cloth diapers until my daughter was around two. For shopping trips and such, I just changed her and put the wet/dirty diaper in a plastic bag in the diaper bag. (She wore diaper covers all the time, so she never wet through her clothes.) When I started potty training (2 1/2 -- we had switched to disposibles by then for a variety of reasons), we used pull-ups while out, even when she was wearing regular undies at home. I kept using pull-ups for a month or so, until she was very reliable.
