dog and dirty diapers?
why does my dog love to trash and eat dirty diapers--always try to put in a closed container asap but he is faster than me sometimes and will hunt it out while I bathe the kids...he has never gotten sick but it's just so gross..this has only happened twice but as I said it's gross

- My moms dog used to do this. I would always try to keep her away... and she would steal them with out me knowing... rip up the sacs i put them in to keep the smell away. There was nothing i could do. Im not sure why they do this, but it seems that they are hiding it. Its an instinct i been told. Hiding the baby, just as I hear they would their own babies. The only thing i could do is put them outside to the trash out there. I would not worry too much. I think that it will stop. the other thing i would do, if i did not have the time to get them out right away, put the solid waste into the toilet... It is cleaner and more environment friendly. They say even in the bag of pampers to put the waste into the toilet... and toss the diaper. I been doing it since i found that is the best method to keeping her out.
- I dont know if it s jealousy or what. We have a puppy that used to eat everything including #2. Ask the vet if there are any products like forbid you can use. He/she would be the best person to ask.
- hello .. I am guessing that these are some brand of disposable diapers dogs like to eat what's inside of them, but use Caution when it comes to the diaper itself I knew someone whose dog ate a small amount of a disposable diaper and her dog died this was many years ago, so i don't know if disposable diapers were different then .... her dog did not eat that much of the diaper but a small piece remained in the dog's stomach and it turned toxic when the silicone or siliconelike product which is used in the manufacturing process of the diaper was broken down and absorbed into the dog's bloodsteam it then began to send toxins throughout the dog's entire body this happened very quickly the diaper particles had to be surgically removed from the dog's stomach but then the liver and the spleen were damaged there was surgery to remove part of the liver because of necrosis , then the spleen had to be removed because it became damaged beyond repair her beloved dog just could not survive this story was printed in an issue of dog fancy magazine and i still have a copy of the article I don't know if anything like this could happen again, but just wanted to pass this story along to you
- put the diapers in a ziplock bag before tossing them to keep the smell from permeating. if this doesn't work, I would suggest putting the diapers in a bin outside of the house to keep the dog out of them. not only is it an inconvenience and a mess when the dog gets into the diapers and tears them up, but this can also be harmful for the dog if it eats the diapers. Good Luck!
