What kind of soap do you use on your cloth diapers?
Just curious. I got my Bum Genius 3.0s in the mail today and I was reading the instructions. It said to use soap that contained no dye or enzymes. I've been using regular Tide on all of my other cloth diapers (gDiapers & Bum Genius 2.0s). What do you use?

- I would not use Tide on cloth diapers. There is a lot of crappy stuff in Tide, and it can be very irritating (did you know Tide contributes to astma in children??). Anyway, I use Shaklee products. They are 100% safe for your baby, the environment, and your home, and will take out all smells and stains! I seriously love their detergent, and highly recommend it to anyone. Plus, it saves you tons of money in the long run! You can go to Shaklee.com. - IMHO, I don't think you should use Tide on a regular basis. I am using the CVS brand "Free & Clear" (it does not contain dyes or fragrances). I just bought some clear natural detergent from the bulk section of our local co-op, which I am going to try with the next wash. If you are able to get to a Whole Foods, I suggest you try Bio-Kleen in the box. It is really good and concentrated (you use a really small scoop), natural, and affordable. I think, if you wash your diapers for one wash with detergent, and then for another wash with no detergent... that should take care of any detergent residue. Otherwise, pay attention to your baby's rear and be on the look-out for any allergic reactions.
- I used Purex free and clear for a while, but had some re-occurring issues with funky smells. I recently switched to Charlies Soap, and will not switch back. http://www.charliesoap.com/ Not only does it clean them well, but there are no residues left, meaning no need to strip. Plus it is biodegradable and all-natural.
- I use the Tide fee for sensitive skin. It has no additives and seems to be working well. You just reminded me to go switch to the "hot" cycle. thanks!
