Diapers Q&A

Question for those who have child(ren) in a more expensive educational daycare?

I have a few questions about what to expect from daycares in order to pick this best for my son. 1. Do you think it worth it to pay an extra $50 a week for a more expensive education program daycare (here regular price would be 155 a week and the more expensive would be around 200 a week)? 2. If so, why? What is different and better than a regular daycare? 3. Do you know if they allow cloth diapers? Use organic foods or milk? 4. Do they enforce naptime? Any info you can give me is appreciated. The more expensive school here is Primrose Academy. My son is 14 months old. Thanks!

  1. 1. Yes 2. At 14 months old, your son is absorbing information every day. If he is in an educational day care, he will be exposed to his ABC's, numbers, and colors. At our day care, a 18 month old was able to carry a conversation with any adult, she sang her ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and could count to ten. There is also a 16 month old who knows her ABCs. I just believe that it is better to introduce information in fun, age-appropriate ways as early as possible. 3. Cloth diapers? I'm not certain, nobody ever asked, but I don't believe that the state would also that (I'm not certain). Organic foods and milk is no problem. At that age, we feed them whatever you what us to. 4. Yes, at least at mine. There is a two hour nap time for the entire day care.
  2. Really, your best bet is to tour several daycares, ask the questions you have, and see which one you like best. You'll know if the extra $50 would be well spent or not. Daycares are so vastly different -- it's hard to say if the extra cost is going to anything worthwhile or not.
  3. Daycare is the worst option!! Quit your job and BE HIS MOTHER!! What are you thiking, that paying more money will make you feel more better to hand him off to some strangers who are supposedly gonna instill all of your values?? No daycare is good, and they dont use organic foods, they dont care about stuff like that! Seriously be a mom and take care of your son yourself!
  4. Cloth diapers and organic food have nothing at all to do with more expensive or "educational." And what do you mean by "educational daycare." Sounds like a scam to me.
