question about cloth diapers (happy heinys)?
im thinking about trying cloth diapers but need some advice. these diapers have caught my attention because they look pretty easy, and they grow with baby so they should be more cost efficient. http://easyclothdiaper.com/products.php?cat=41 my question is how many cloth diapers should i buy if i want to do diaper laundry like twice a week? also if you have experiance with these diapers, what is your opinion of them? or if you use a different diaper and you love it because it is easy, feel free to let me know about it. im not trying to spend a whole lot of money, i just want good diapers that will last and will be easy to clean and change and all that. thanks for your advice julie

- i haven't used cloth diapers before but on average you change a diaper 8-12 times a day for a newborn. that means you would need to buy between 28-42 diapers if you only want to do washing 2 times a week.
- I used something similar, but it was two pieces. The waterproof covers wear out before the cotton insides and you don't have to change the cover if the diaper is just peed on. I bought 4-5 covers of each size and 18 cloth diapers total (they had the snaps to grow with baby and that worked well.) I used Snug-to-fit diapers, and Prowraps classic covers and loved them.
- I use the one size Happy Heinies on my son and love them. Because, like you, I only wanted to do a diaper wash every few days I splashed out and purchased about 30 - which did seem like a big initial outlay, but since they'll last until he's 35lbs I just had to remind myself of the long term savings we're making!! They are really nicely made, robust yet lovely and soft against baby's skin. They come with two sizes of insert which compared to other pocket diaper makes them great value. The fleece lining keeps the baby's skin surprisingly dry and the inserts seem to hold a good amount of pee. Carding for them is really easy, as they wash very well. We've also found them no more leaky or prone to blowouts than disposables, just be careful what detergent you use so they keep their absorbancy. Suffice to say I definately reccomend them!!
