Diapers Q&A

How many diapers does a baby use in a day? And what is the best brand?

I was just curious on how many diapers a baby (newborn & up) uses in a day because i wanna stock up before my lil man gets here. Plus, what brand of diapers do you reccommend? Im trying to get something more on the affordable side, but ill pay a lil extra if that means less leaks and less defective diapers (like the tabs ripping off and stuff). I heard white cloud diapers are good from a friend of mine, but then i looked at some reviews and they werent so good... so let me know what yal think. Thanks so much!!! Thank you all so much! I think i might go with pampers swaddlers while he is a newborn but as he gets older im going to try a few of the cheaper brands out (parents choice, white cloud, luvs). Cloth diapers just arent for me.... but who knows it might be something ill try down the road. Im gonna start out with one big box of the newborn size of the pampers swaddlers and get a few size 1's....that should be good for a little bit. Thanks again to everyone who helped me out. I cant wait till my lil boy gets here!!!! :-D

  1. About 3-5 Diapers Daily And The Best Brand Is Huggies.
  2. A baby newborn and up uses about 3 -5 diapers a day. Huggies is the best brand.
  3. i love pampers, i only used this brand up until he was a year old then i switched to huggies. Newborn baby will need to be changed every time he wakes up including night... I would guess and say 6-10 I had 6 pound babies so newborn diapers were a good fit.. however if your baby is bigger newborn diapers might not fit for long so don't stock up too much with the same size.
  4. HUGGIES BABY XD
  5. some of the lazy b's i've seen lately change a diaper once a week
  6. I only heard of huggies but also I heard other brands are just as good its just Huggies getmore air time and has more ads out. But my little sister used four yesterday.
  7. buy re-useable/washable nappies. they will save you money and better for the environment. disposables take 100's of years to rot away in landfill. contact your local council as they often have cash back incentives to encourage you.
  8. huggies is the best...its the most comfortable for the baby too i think.
  9. Huggies are the best for girls, and it depends on the day , how many a baby can go thru. I like Huggies for boys too. But we have girls and we love em. 6-12 diapers a day is common. Or so that is my experience. Good Luck and congradulations~
  10. @ most 5 diapers but no less than 3 and the best brand is pampers or target brand, its cheaper but believe me its like the same thing!
  11. I use white cloud and they are the best cheaper diapers out there. If you dont like those then Id go with pampers. Huggies seemed a bit weird on my daughter but fit boys pretty good. the swaddler pampers are the best for newborns though. And they wet between 5 and 10 diapers a day depending on what they are eating and drinking. More diapers when they are little (more formula or breast milk) because of all the liquid. Good luck being a new mommy! :)
  12. 3-5 diapers a day and my mom uses huggies for my little brother
  13. I relly like the target brand diapers, they are VERY afordable and they work great! (as for pull-ups I would recomend not buying albertsons brand...I hated them). As for how many I think it really depends on your baby. My mother always told me to change my daughter every 2 hours, but I think I usually just did it when she was wet or at least every 3 hours. Now that my girl is almost 2 she usually only goes through 3 or 4 diapers a day! good luck! if your really not sure on a brand just have people buy you diapers for your shower and choose from them what ones you really like!
  14. about 4-6 and i use cloth nappies
  15. i changed my newborn an easy 8 times a day we bought Huggies by the box literally....they are what i would recommend but try several brands and see what you prefer as for how many changings' that varies too like how much he will eat and such. but good luck
  16. Depending on the baby three to eight diapers a day. If you really want to go cost effective I would recommend Parent's Choice, they're cheap and they've always worked for me on any baby i've put them on.
  17. I would say anywhere from 4-7 diapers daily. I think that pampers is the best. Huggies is not bad either except they leave harsh indentations on baby's skin and i think you can smell the pee more with Huggies.
  18. I have two lil' brats of my own,,,and I mean that in a lovable way. They are now out of diapers but when they were little they went through 6-10 a day. Depends you know on if you're feeding them formula or breast feeding. Breast fed babies wet and poop a lot more because the milk is so much more easy to digest than formula. I used to buy the big name brands like Huggies or Luvs even Pampers, but then I tried this one brand called Kirkland, and they worked just as well. I found those in the big 100 box at a better price at the big stores like Costco or Sams Club, those warehouse type stores. Wal-Mart also has some off brand that worked just the same as name brand. The only way to know with "off brand" diapers is to try them because I know some are AWFUL!
  19. Don't stock up too much on one size because babies grow very quickly. I would say that they go through 8 - 12 a day when they are new born depending on how much they sleep (never wake a baby to change its diaper -- they will let you know when they are uncomfortable.) Look for the diaper coupons in the paper, the best ones are the .75 off because many stores double the coupons under $1. Also, look to buy in bulk as they get a little older. Congrats on your new little one.
  20. 5 diapaers a day , if you breastfed ( which is best)
  21. I've actually heard good things about cloth diapers. They are reusable so it ends up costing a LOT less, they are less likely to give your baby diaper rash, they aren't really that much more messy than disposables, and because they allow your baby to feel a little "wet" children on average end up toilet training earlier. They've also come a very long way...there are lots of kinds now made of high tech materials that are really absorbent, fitted and have velcro closures, so it's not like you have to know how to fold them and use diaper pins anymore, they are just as easy to use as disposables.
  22. Depends on the age of the baby. Newborns typically go through 10-12 diapers a day. Older babies often have only 6 changes (you may need more). Some say that this is not enough (6), but this is just what is reported on the pregnancy boards in recent years. My one cousin was very happy with White Cloud and Target brand. My other cousin used Target brand until his daughter got older and it just didn't hold the urine, so switched to Huggies. I made cloth diapers for another cousin with twins. Saved them tons of money and the twins trained earlier than most kids in disposables. For heavy wetters, brand names like Luvs, Huggies and Pampers are your best bet. For newborns, you can get away with the cheapest diapers as they don't pee a lot, just frequently.
  23. 3-6 daily Huggies is the best!
  24. Newborns use more diapers than older babies. I swear some days I would change them at least 15 times! I think breast fed babies also go more than formula fed ones. As for the brands you'll probably have to test them out yourself. I always, like 98% of the time would buy the generic store brand ones, or the Wal-Mart ones in the yellow package. I have used white cloud before (also from Wal-Mart) and thought they worked just fine. Out of the "fancy" brands I like Huggies. So, that's just my experience! Happy mommying! One more thing, never ever buy the Fitti diapers. The ones with the disappearing ballons! They hold about 2 drops of liquid before becoming a big mess--bought them one time in an extreme emergency at a liquor store!
  25. Lots. Buy in bulk. Get a roll of surgical tape for the best containers with the poorest fasteners. Roll with it a bit here. This is only going to last about two years. I could be way more graphic and tell you why I bought a house with hardwood floors and adopted a dog, but I'll save that. Go axe ya momma!
  26. I guess my kids are weird.... They had about 12 dirty diapers a day and I used Pampers. Theyre softer and I like them better. I've never really liked huggies and I heard that the Luvs stretchy tabs leak really bad
  27. A newborn can go through up to 10 diapers a day. That's if you keep them changed often enough. My kids have sensitive skin so I have to use Pampers or Huggies because the others break them out. But I have tried them all. I don't like the White Cloud because they are too hard and stiff. Luvs are under $8 a bag and they work great. Also the Parent's Choice (walmart brand) are under $6 a bag and while they are not as fancy they work good too. I stocked up on diapers too. I bought 12 bags of size 1 diapers when my daughter was born and we used all of them. Don't buy too many of the newborn size, depending on how big your baby is he/she may not be able to wear them at all. You can always take them back and exchange them for a bigger size.
  28. dont buy but maybe 2 packs of the newborn size, they wont fit for too long. you will use probably 5-6 a day. the size 1 diapers seem to fit better and less leaks(because of the size) i like pampers, they are very stretchy and i havent had any trouble with leaks, if you want a cheaper brand then luvs are good. i like huggies wipes better though, i found the pampers ones to be too thin and they dont clean anything off...
  29. Maybe 5 diapers a day, I used Pampers Swaddlers when my daughter was born and there worth the money! There a little more expensive then the White Cloud brand but they never leak. Next we used Pampers Baby Dry, then we moved into Pampers Cruisers when my daughter started walking. I hate Huggies!! I received a couple bags of them at my baby shower and in every bag at least 2 diapers had the tabs rip off while I was Velcro-ing it in the front. Luvs work well too, and there a little cheaper. They just came out with Luvs Bear Stretch which work great.
  30. I am expecting in a few weeks and ask a family friend the same question since she just had a baby. She said before they started to walk, she loved Pampers, after her little ones started to walk, she switched to huggies.
  31. Huggies are okay but they are kind of a rough material..Luvs stink and they leak.. the only brand I ever buy my baby (and believe me we try to save money as well!!) is Pampers. For newborns, pampers has the best diapers especially- they are called swaddlers..they are really soft and never leaked on me. That is what the hospitals use. They cost a little bit more but Id rather pay more than clean up a leaky diaper mess :)
  32. 1st...for all those people saying 3-5 a day....don't know if your a parent but i fell sorry for your poor Lil ones. 2ND....talking 24 hours.....cuz you have to change them even when they wake up at night. I would count on changing that Lil one no less than 10-12 times in 24 hours. More if your breast feeding....breast feed babies poop more...which is good for them! 3rd.....I found for newborns that pampers swaddlers are really good. We also use Parents choice, huggies are fine to. 4Th Have you signed up on all the websites...like huggies and pampers...they will send a free sample for you to use and they send coupons....coupons = great savings! 5TH babies pee more when they go through growth spurts. 6TH...I wouldn't buy alot of new born sizes cuz babies grow so fast...try getting a a few of the next couple sizes up. cloth diapers are much better for not only the environment but often some babies have allergies to the chemicals in disposable....do you know they have chlorine...yeah that's like putting bleach on them. you can google for the huggies and Pampers sites... here are a few sites for you.....http://www.pampers.com/en_US/home.do http://www.huggies.com/ http://beechnut.com/bowl/ (this is a offer for a free bowl and it really is free...I've gotten my already...you just have to sign up for their news letter) http://www.shop4freebies.com/ (this is a great site they offer all kinds of free samples and such. everything is FREE) Once you get on the mailing list of the big companies you will get lots of coupons and samples coming in. I sugesst setting up an e-mail account just for this stuff that way you can keep it all together and it doesn't fill you other e-amil. be very careful of sites that want you to purchase anything. Good Luck....
