Dog diapers that will "catch" both pee and poop?
I know someone whose dachshund has recently had a back injury. His back legs are now most likely permanently paralyzed. He is still very young and healthy otherwise and he will be getting a cart soon to help him get around. When this kind of injury happens, dogs no longer have control over their bowel functions. I am looking for diapers that will “catch” both pee and poop. Does such a thing exist? Every single dog diaper I have found is for pee only. Any help would be very appreciated. These people love this little guy so much and they’ve all had a very taxing time over the last few weeks since his injury, and not having to worry about this problem would take a lot off their minds. He is currently doing well, and will most likely be back to his old self and tearing around in his cart very soon. Just as people can be happy without the use of their legs, so can dogs, if given the right care. All problems are solved but this one, so if you know of such a product, please let me know!

- Get the "flashy pants" female type dog diapers. Just use pads in strategic areas to catch the waste. They sell under different names, but any female dog diaper will do.
- Ok this will probably sound odd but I had a friend who had to do this. Get inexpensive men's briefs (actually for a dachsund you should probably get boy's starter briefs) and put a small "feminine" pad into it to absorb the pee. You actually put the underwear on the dog backwards so their tail comes through the opening of the briefs. Then she can throw away the pads, dump the poop and wash the briefs for reuse.
- How about regular premie baby diapers? Its worth a shot and thats what they were designed for. They may have to be modified for the tail, but thats nothing a pair of scissors wont fix. Sorry about the pooch:(
