Dog Droppings all over, HELP!!!!!?
Ok my wife wanted a dog for about 3 years now. so i finally got her one for her birthday, but she never put the time into potty training her puppy, now she is almost 4 months and she (i apologice before handed) Shits and pees everywhere, we have tried several things. we confine her to a kids 4X4 playground gate with dog diapers. it didnt work, since my wife doesnt change the diaper daily it was a nasty paste of dropings in the floor. i use to clean it but i got tired of it, after that we decide it to let her be all over the room, it didnt work,. she would do it again all over the room, about a week ago we move her to the bathroom but oh my god how do i regret that, and now i was in the process of cleaning it up and decide it to come here. we are now moving her to the downstairs, at the laundry room, i really dont want to keep her outside we dont have a fenced back yard and she is a beautyfull toy poodle someone could try to take her, ANY IDEAS PLEASE, ANYTHING AT ALl ok fisrt of all the puppy is not mistreat it hehe just in case. and i have tried the crate thats were we had her before and it didnt work at all, so im really looking for more options, than just keeping the dog outside, far as im concern a dog is a huge responsability and she is just not doing it, and i dont have any esperience at all with dogs but anyhow i just sit down and talk to her and she agreed to take the puppy outside 5 times a day and more, well see how that goes. and she eats pedigree for puppy, and drink dasani watter she is really well taken care in that matter is just the potty training and i absolubty refuse to give the dog away hehe, over this she allready mentioned once when i told her to pick up some dropings and i told her that shes not 14 anymore and mom isnt coming to do it for her. I SWITCH FOOD TODAY, Since one of the answers said pedigree is a los quality food. i went to my local pet shop and switch to "Nutro Ultra" and i notice that when i serve it she came really fast looking for it and she never did that with the pedigree, and as i can see so far so good. As well i bought the drops for training, im giving a last try before i take her to training.

- Try taking her to a PetCo or PetSmart for professional training. Though, if you have time, whenever you see her bending down to relieve herself pick her up and take her to the area you want her to poop and stick to that area everytime until she's learned.
- Soon as you wake up throw on some jeans and take the dog out. They have to go when they wakew up just like you. Just before you go to bed you take the dog out. They have to go before bed just like you. Three times a day in between you take the dog out. They have to go a lot as young dogs and if you don't take them out, what do you expect them to do? There is only the pet owner to blame here, not the dog at all. They need to be taken out to go 5 times a day and it takes a LOT of patience and commitment from the owner. If the dog will not sh*t outdoors, you have to get it used to it by GENTLY putting a match head that you have wetted in your mouth up their rectum wihil they are outside so they get used to sh*tting outdoors. But you can't expect anything else from the poor dog than it doing it in the house if you doon't take it out 5 times a day. NOT LESS!!! Take it out at the SAME times each day so it knows when it will be able to go out to go to the bathroom every day. YOu have to be really committed. AND DO NOT HIT OR SPANK THE POOR DOG! It cannot help it when it has to go. It just has not been taken out by it's owner. Let's see, your wife won't take care of this, you won't take care of this, you got tired of it, and yet you are asking what you should do??? Find a more willing owner for the poor dog, that's what you should do! OR put a pet door, a swinging door in the back door so the poor dog can get in and out by itself. The dog needs to be able to get outdoors to go to the bathroom when it needs to. Either you TAKE it out FIVE TIMES A DAY, or put a pet door in and take the time and patience to show it how to use it. It will take some time and patience for the pup to get used to ging outdoors but it must be done. You have to stay outside with it at least half an hour until it gets theidea each time that it is OK for it to go outdoors to sh*t and pee. It takes time, love, patience and commitment and that beautiful dog deserves no less.
- Try getting a small dog kennel. Keep the dog in there and only take her out ONLY to go outside to the bathroom and to eat. Do not put anything in there with her. When you do take her out, take her to the bathroom, feed her, and take her back out to the bathroom. This may take a couple of months, but it has always worked for me. You may hate to see her locked up all the time, but it will be worth it in the end. She may use the bathroom in it a few times, but she will stop because she won't be able to get away from the smell and mess. Make sure the kennel is not too much larger than her.
- I am not a dog person, but I would suggest crate training the dog. When she is in side keep her in a crate, and frequently put her on a leash outside to use the bathroom. Eventually the dog will learn to wait to be let outside. Some think it is cruel but I have heard it works.
- Get your dog trained really!!! You will enjoy being with your dog sooo much more, remember there is no easy solution! On the bright side you have a very intelligent dog that will learn quickly, that should encourage you. :) Good luck! Oh and the user named "Knowitall" you gave some great tips and then showed your animosity/insecuity,you cant presume people are mistreating there animal and YOU CANT SAVE THE WORLD ALONE so share your welcome knowledge but put the personal stuff aside eh?
- smaller dogs have to go more often, you should take her out every 3 to 4 hours and especially first thing in the morning, if that doesnt help take her to the vet, my dog was doing that also and it turned out she had bladderstones and a bladder infection, having that makes them think they need to go all the time and they do go, anywhere that they can. i got my dog when she was 4 months old so the pup is still young enough to learn pretty quickly where they are supposed to go, good luck.
- This sounds like it might work for you, Litter Box Training for dogs. .. http://www.kturby.com/litter/litter.htm
- what kind of food?? (better food you feed less -> less poops!) ok a 4x4 playground is too bit for house training - you need small crate. the crate becomes a den/bedroom dogs dont want to poop in their bed rooms so she goes in there at night without food or water - first thing in AM out to pee... go with her and reward with soft treat.. then in for breakfast (remove uneaten food and then out again... dog will run around then poop (reward INSTANTLY with soft treat) bring dog in side and keep an eye on her constantly... she should be ok for a while but when you see her circling and sniffing the ground this is the indicator that she is gonna pee/poop... so back out side and again go out with and reward instantly with small soft treat) when you are not home or cannot watch her she should be in the crate (not playpen) at 6:00 pm feed her supper and remove any uneaten food by 6:30 make sure she goes out to run and poop after dinner - remove water at 8:00 pm take her out again before bed and put her in crate for the night... when you come to let her out in am do not let her hear you coming or this will excite her and cause her to pee.... ok if you and your wife are not willing to put in the proper effort to house train a pup then take her back to the breeder (please tell me she was from a breeder not a pet store) or take her to a humane society or SPCA so they can rehome her.....either dont get another dog or get an adult who is already house trained you would be better off fencing your yard anyhow - but toy poodles should not be kept outside...even with fully fenced yard... they are house dogs... ** ADDITIONAL INFO ** Pedigree is low quality food - go to pet supply store and get a better one with CHICKEN MEAL or LAMB MEAL as first ingredient - rice second... you will feed less so pup will poop less.....Pedigree has too many fillers and not enough nutrition so pets need to eat more ALSO DO NOT GIVE PETS BOTTLED WATER - it is very hard on their systems... and creates problems with their immune system.... crate training is really your best solution!!
- You could start off by talking to your wife and explaining if she doesn't want to put in the time and love with the pup to train it so it you may want to place it in another home. Then if you decide to take her on for real buy a small crate to put her in and make her stay there anytime you are not home or not with her. Dogs tend not to use the potty where they have to sleep. Just remember to let her out as much as possible and to take her straight outside when u do let her out. Step 2 make sure you have her on a VERY high quality dog food because the more their body takes in the less that comes out if ya know what i mean. I personally feed my dogs nutro and they do very well on it. Puppies are just like kids you have to put in time and love to make anything work. You will have to be consistent in any training method you try. Also remember they can get MANY diseases from being left in the area with feces and urine so please be sure to let her out frequently and keep her small area clean. Well pedigree isnt a good choice for a inside dog that your trying to potty train. Try going to the nearest pet store and find a food with NO by-product or corn as they are not digestable and pass right through their system. and you may want to try the krate thing again but use a very small one. not inhumanely small but very small where if she uses the bathroom it would make it hard to get away from. I have 2 jack russles and they were pain in the butts to train but once i got the krate and got 1 small enough they got the hint after a few weeks. I give them a treat when they get in so it makes it a little easier. I am so happy you are taking steps to resolve this. gl to you and the pup and remember it is like a baby and you have to be patient :)
- Sounds like the problem is more your wife's than the dog. Get some of the treated dog papers and put them somewhere and soak them in her pee and some poop. Show her where she is supposed to poop and pee. Crate her at night and first thing in morning put her on the papers. Praise her for doing her business and keep her on a leash during the day so you can catch her and lead her to the papers when she looks like she has to potty. When you see her going potty, use the same phrase lilke "get busy" and she will associate those words with going to the bathroom and then use them when you take her to the papers. Keep the other areas of the house smelling fresh and clean. Gradually move the papers outside once she starts to use them.
- Okay, first go to peteducation.com and look up instructions on crate training. It may not be successful at first, but this is the ONLY thing that will work at this point. If you or your wife is not willing to stick to this routine, you're going to have to find another home for the dog. Puppies are a huge responsibility and it seems as though you're not only making yourselves miserable, but failing to provide the dog with any structure. To avoid even more problems in the future, this dog has to be trained. Poodles are especially stubborn dogs if not trained as puppies. You should have gotten an adult dog or none at all.
