Disposing of disposable diapers?
I live in the county and there is no trash pickup. Disposable diapers just do not burn they typically put the fire out or take weeks just to single and fill the fire barrel up. How do I get rid of these diapers? I know that cloth diapers are an option and that they are more environmentally responsible but it isn't my job to change the diapers just to dispose of them so it is not my choice and cloth is not an option. Extra lighter fluid? I dont use any lighter fluid and I dont want to. It is not safe and unless I soak the diapers beforehand in lighter fluid I wont burn anything but the lighter fluid. I just dumped my last trash barrel and it was nothing but gooey black diaper mush. A full barrel of it.

- Um....we burn our trash and our diapers burn just fine....you may need to put extra lighter fluid on them possibly
- Yes, they should burn okay. Though since they are not burning....sounds like when you go into town to shop, bring the bags of old diapers (heavily sealed of course) and throw them in a public dumpster that gets dumped often. Hope you work this out!
- How do u get your Diapers? do the same and Take the trash in town with you i am sure there is a tip in the township other wise travel to the nearest tip or ask your local council to place a big trash bin in your comunity somewhere... hard one to answer
- The same way the trash pick-up does.Bury them and you will have your very own land fill.
- We also live out in the country and have had to dispose of our waste including diapers. We have trouble burning them just out in the open. However we also have a coal stove and they burn pretty well in it with wood or coal added in. Lighter fluid or other fuels aren't needed and the coal or wood raise the temp of the fire helping the diapers burn. Hope this helps you out if this is an available option to you. You could also take them in bulk to a landfill for drop off with your glass/cans and other non-burnables. We have to make a trip every once in a while for this purpose. If cost is an issue. Most landfills offer a free day once or twice a month to county residents.
