Cloth swim diapers or disposable swim diapers? Which is better?
My daughter (1 year) will be starting swim classes soon. We have cloth "Swim Diapers" that have the special lining to prevent poop from going in the water. We also bought some Huggies Little Swimmers Disposable Swim Diapers. Which is better? Do the Huggies soak up water? Do the cloth swim diapers really work?

- the lil swimmers are awsome, that's all I used for like 3 summers straight!! ; )
- personally, i would say the cloth ones, wouldnt want any little surprises coming out. i used those for my son, always worked well, on the other hand i had a friend use the huggies disposable ones, not so great, she had to borrow one of my cloth ones.
- Cloth diapers are better for the environment as they don't create pollution with every use (other than the obvious bodily waste products!!). They are cheaper if you are going to use them regularly. And they work fine, or pools wouldn't allow them to be used (they don't want to have to clean up after your baby!!). Since they are fabric rather than paper, they are also more comfortable against your baby.
- The disposable ones are Great. No they do not soak up the water.
- You may want to ask the facility where she will be taking lessons. Some places only allow disposable ones. I used both and actually preferred the Huggies Little Swimmers. They fit nicely and did not soak up water like a diaper does at all. They were wonderful. Good Luck to your little swimmer, My daughter is a fish now at 3 1/2 as we started her out swimming young also.
- We use the Huggies Little Swimmers. They are wonderful and don't soak up the water. Plus they are great for on the go. You can just switch diapers when she's done swimming and throw the Huggie away.
- I would use the cloth ones. They both do exactly the same thing keep solids confined and neither one contains urine. So why keep filling the landfill with the disposables when the cloth ones will do the same thing.
