- Yep, rethink that thought! Because whether new age or old age cloth diapers just do not have the one thing that makes today's disposable diapers even better than ever!. The wicking!!! They pull the urine and liquid from poo away from Baby's skin and this vastly reduces diaper rash. Unless you plan to be right there, on the spot, the second baby quits peeing, stick with disposables or be prepared to deal with a lot of unnecessary little butt rashes! Also, disposables which are discarded properly into the trash are a lot more sanitary then a bucket full of soaking soiled cloth diapers! Trust me, wrapping a poopy dipe in an old grocery store bag for the garbage can is a whole lot more fun then swishing a poopy, nasty piece of cloth around in the toilet until the chunks fall off! Especially when baby has a touch of a tummy bug!! Ahem, smells better too!!!
- Check out www.sunshinebottoms.com The site may still be under construction, but the diapers are fantastic and the proceeds go to charities that help rescue children from prostitution. The diapers are homemade by a stay at home mom who uses the diapers she makes on her own kids (she also happens to be my cousin)

- With my first we just used prefolds with covers which was super inexpensive but a little challenging when he became Mr. Wiggles at diaper changing time! Now that we have two (a newborn and 21 month old) we use bum genius 2.0 pocket diapers (with cotton babies microfiber inserts). Because they are pocket diapers, you can adjust the absorbency depending on what you need -- have a heavy wetter? Just add an extra insert! Or you can just stuff them with a prefold, which is what we are doing for our newborn. The cool thing about these is they are adjustable (with snaps and Velcro), so they fit babies from 8 to 35 pounds. They also go on like disposable diapers, the only extra work is before and after laundering -- you have to stuff them with the inserts before using and then take out the inserts before washing. I would also recommend looking into flushable liners once the baby is off breast milk or formula. They make laundry a lot easier! We bought our diapers at www.cottonbabies.com -- which is a great site for tips on cloth diapers. For great deals, make sure you sign up for their special offers!
- A really good thing to do is to buy a sampler pack, they're available at most online diaper stores. You can see what works best for you without making a huge investment. We use a variety, but when we're out and about we tend toward pocket diapers because of their ease of use and the material that's next to baby wicks the moisture away from them, helping to prevent diaper rash. Personally, I like pockets better than All-In-Ones (AIOs) because I feel like I can get them cleaner, better, and they dry faster. Like a previous answerer said, bumGenius is nice, I also like Fuzzi Bunz, Happy Heiny's and DryBees. Good luck, and watch out: Cloth diapers are super cute and it's easy to spend all your money! :)
- We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our bumGenius All In Ones. The only down-side to them is that they are sized, so when baby outgrows them you have to buy more in another size. But Cotton Babies offers a "Growing Up In Cloth" program which can help with this in some ways. Anyhow...LOVE the bumGenius dipes! I like their pocket ones too, but they are not as trim as the All In Ones. That's my only complaint w/ them. A good site to check out for more info would be www.diaperswappers.com
