- I like chinese prefolds and Bummi covers or Imse Vimse covers. Here's a site that can answer your questions about what to get and how much you'll need. http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/ Congrats on the forthcoming arrival!
- I am getting some prefolds and covers. Some people prefer pockets, still others prefer all in ones. I have been on diaperswappers learning a ton because I was clueless and really wanted to switch! I am going to get a few AIO's just because hubby can't figure out prefolds.
- I love the fuzzi bunz diapers, this site is where I bought mine from and they provide a lot of information on how many you should start out with, how to wash and care for CD. Good luck!
- The pre-folds are nice because part of the work is done, but they don't expand as the baby grows. The flat birdseye are more useful for diapers, burp covers and underpads when you are out and about. Either way you will need at least 4 dozen. Then there is all the washing, bleaching, drying, folding....they can save you money but they are more work! Cloth diapers are saving on the enviornment.
- Are you looking for cheap, easy, or long-wearing diapers? If you are going for cheap, you will need 2 dozen Chinese prefolds in infant and 2 dozen in toddler or premium sized (NEVER buy the gerber or others from chain stores, they suck) and about 6 covers in size small and medium (My son never went past mediums because they go up to 30 pounds and he is skinny and potty learned at about 27 months;-) Bummis Super Whisper Wraps are the best covers i've ever used. If you are looking for easy, and money is not a huge issue, then All-in-ones (AIOs) are a good bet. They are a diaper and cover combined and you stick them on just like a paper diaper. For a diaper that will hold pee all night long, you may want to try some pocket diapers such as Happy Heinys or Fuzzi Bunz. Check out http://www.diaperpin.com for all you ever wanted to know.
- Hi M, I plan to use a mix of cloth fitted and disposables. my fifth is due in Nov. If you use the good old square nappies then you will need about 50. You just fold them differently for the different sex and size you need to cover. If like me you plan to use fitted cloth nappies, then some are a one size fits all. While others cover a range of weights. Again you will need about 50. I say 50 as a little one will go through about 12 to 15 nappies a day, so that is some clean, some in soaking, some being washed and some on the line drying. If somebody wants to get you a gift ask for nappy service. It is great as they take away and wash the yucky nappies and drop you off nice clean ones. In the first few weeks it is a god send. As it is one less job to do while you recover. I have given it to a number of friends and have been told it was the best gift they got. Have a look at the links they may help you. Best of luck.
