What is the best cloth diaper to use, that you feel is inexpensive but very good?
I currently use CD on my baby, I bought them from Target, it is a pre-fold, and I use vinyl pull ups as her covers. Well it seems like they are always leaking through her clothes. So, I don't know if I should buy my Cloth Diapers from a specialty website that does them? Or am I doing something wrong? The question is about Cloth Diapering, so if you know nothing about it or just wanna put your two sense in about disposables don't bother leaving a comment... this is a serious question for mothers who know about Cloth Diapering.. Thank you!

- In the long run, it is cheaper, as well as more convenient to just use disposables!
- i had to make my oldest diapers from flannel..it was the only material that didn't give a rash.
- I had good luck with the prefolded diapers from Target/Walmart, but I had to invest in some wraps from e-bay that worked much better than the vinyl pull ups.. these are the kind I used, as well as the kind that were provided from the cloth diaper service I had for a while http://cgi.ebay.com/Baby-Diaper-Covers-Lot-Of-2-NIP-Snapi-Wrap-Pink-XL_W0QQitemZ180173773858QQihZ008QQcategoryZ26267QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
- Things I remember That the cover up or plastic pants needs to be fitted around the legs The diaper needs to be snug. I also remember changing more diapers then my friends that used disposable.I used cotton diapers.I changed my daughter a lot. I can not think of anything else that may help you at this time.
- hi i use terry cloth nappies (about $20 per dozen) with fluffys (about $3 each only need a few) covers. no leeks except for really yucky no.2s. i havent tried any of the prefolds or all in ones. good luck in your search.
- I have always heard that the Gerber prefolds you can buy at Target and Walmart are not very absorbent at all. I have some Chinese prefolds that I ordered online, and they are MUCH thicker and softer than the Gerbers I use for burp cloths. That is probably why they are leaking - they just can't hold the amount of pee that she puts in them! Prefolds are the most economical choice in cloth diapers, so I'd probably look on ebay for some or on a website that specializes in cloth diapers. I also have some all in ones and pocket diapers, which are good for being out of the house, but I use the prefolds the most and they are by far the cheapest. As far as the vinyl pants go, so long as there are no gaps around her legs or belly, they shouldn't be the cause of the leak. I use Bummis Whisper Wraps, which are polyester, and the breathe better than vinyl. They also have velcro on the sides and go on like a disposable diaper rather than having to pull them up all the time. (My wiggle worm wouldn't put up with that at every change!) Another problem might be detergent or rash cream build up on the diapers, especially if they have just recently started leaking. To solve this, you need to "strip" your diapers. You can search online for lots of ways to do this, but I'll tell you the way I do it. You need to start with clean diapers, first of all. Then I run them through a hot wash cycle with Dawn dish soap, and rinse until there are no suds in the water. Dry as normal. You can also run them through the dishwasher (top rack for the vinyl pants) with no detergent a few cycles. It gets much hotter in there and will strip the build up right out. Good luck - I know it's frustrating. We were having leaking problems at night recently and stripping the diapers solved it!
- We use Fuzzi Bunz. They are adjustable at the legs and waist, easy to use, soft against baby, and economical in the long run. 12 to 18 diapers @ about $20 each lasts for 1 to 1 1/2 years...so quite a bit cheaper than disposables. Also have never had a rash, except when traveling, and using disposables. No leaks either.
- I've used Fuzzibunz in the past and plan on using it again as I am expecting baby #3. The key is to make sure they are snug around baby legs and bottom. If the baby is in btwn sizes I add in an extra insert or prefold to make sure no leaks will happen. Also make sure after a wash those diapers are thoroughly dry they hold more after more use out of them. I've heard the prefolds at target or walmart are just for emergency use... out of town on the road sort of thing and they really don't do the job. Go to www.cottonbabies.com get the chinese prefolds from there they really hold up and use a really great diaper cover like bummis. I get my stuff from there 'cos its pretty inexpensive compared to other sites. Mainly it could be your prefold is new and developed its absorbancy just yet... but if your buying the gerber brands I doubt they will do the job you want them to.
