  1. Cloth diapers are not as absorbent. Would irritate the baby's skin more.
  2. i use fitted hemp/cotton blend......and they fricken rock as back up i use prefolds but that is only when my fitteds are in the wash i cannot think of one con towards my baby girl's fitted hemps.....not even price.....they cost more but are the best hands down i am using Crickett's Diapers and Growing Greens
  3. try g diapers www.gdiapers.com I love them. They have a pad that reminds me of a kotex that is flushable and compostable. The outside and removable plastic liner are washable.
  4. I have tried a few different kinds of cloth diapers with my son. What I have found works best for us is a combination of different ones. I use the prefolds and covers at home or while visiting at other homes (I love the Bummis Super whisper wrap covers. Just make sure they completely cover the diaper.) I use the all in ones when we go out shopping or out for the day. They are less bulky and I have less pieces to worry about bringing with me and remembering to bring home! (I love the Bum Genius 3.0. They are amazing! Haven't leaked yet!) Good luck!
  5. I use pockets and prefolds with covers. Pockets Pros: Easy and convenient, wick away moisture from baby's skin, adorable, no pins or snappis, tend to be a bit more trim so baby looks less like a pear, seem to be very easy to get stains out of. Cons: Expensive while building up stash. Prefolds Pros: Cheap, a little more easy to launder than pockets, many different folds to use Cons: Some covers leak. (Thirsties are very good though!) Most folds require pins or snappis. Hold stains more than pockets, moisture is held against Baby's skin. As you can see, I'm partial to pocket diapers, but I still LOVE prefolds with Thirsty covers. IMO, you really can't go wrong with cloth if you buy online and don't use gerber prefolds and plastic pants.
  6. I used both Curity Long diapers that you folded and Birdseye diapers, loved them both, they have to be changed a little more but I found that my son and daughter both had less Dipper rash etc with them. After I shook the poop out into the toilet I would soak in dip are pail with borax and than wash in hot water with Ivory soap, rise at least twice dry with out fabric softener it can irritate the skin and causes the diapers not to absorb as well, by rinsing them at least 2 times you get the soap out...Borax will help keep them white. Also make sure you have little rubber pants to go over them so you don't ruin your furniture or bedding. An added plus is you won't be filling up the land fill with diapers that will not return to the earth.
  7. Cloth diapers are truly the best, about the only problems you will have is washing, traveling, you will have to have a way of keeping them until they can be washed. Disposable diapers are easier, you jest throw them away, but some can cause rashes on the baby, but they are beaning inproved, and if you look, you probably could fine one, that will be right for your baby.
  8. well I don't have experience w/ washing them... but I've babysat several who use them... and as far as ease of use on my part I prefer the BumGenius one size kind. I didn't use cloth w/ my first, but have decided to start saving up now to invest in the Bum Genius brands. The ones that come in sizes (whether all in ones or inserts) will not be used as much, you'll have to get sets in sizes, and saving money is part of the cloth appeal. http://www.bumgenius.com/one-size.php
  9. I prefer pockets and AI2's. I have a couple fitteds and covers, as well as AIO's(super absorbant!). I love the ease of AIO's, but not the drying time. They normally take about 2x as long to dry as anything else. I have some that I use and LOVE, but hate the drying time. My pockets are amazing! I love that I can adjust the absorbancy as needed, just by stuffing the pocket with more or less. Out of pockets my favorites are Fuzzi Bunz and Mommy's Touch. The Mommy's Touch are a one size dipe(like Bum Genius) but they snap, whereas the BG's have velcro. I have some of the BG's and I loved them in the begining, but the velcro has quickly worn out. They have definately fallen out of my favor. My JT Berry Plush is marketed as an AIO, but I feel that it is more an AI2, seeing that the soaker and liner snap in. I ADORE it!!!! One of the most absorbant dipes in my stash.
