tricks to speed diaper rash healing?
She had diarhhea for 3 days, and was left with a horrible diaper rash. I am washing her bottom with soap and water 2 times daily, changing her diaper every hour and using balmex on it. She is not crying in pain when I touch it today; yet it doesn't appear to be getting much better. The diarhea is over. she is 3 months old so taking her to the potty really isn't an option

- vaseline 2 times a day, right after the bathing, itll help the skin to heal.
- Try to keep her as dry as possible. When you wash her with water, make sure she is completely dry before putting her diaper on. Also, when you change her diaper, let her "air dry" a little bit. I'm not sure of the age of your child, but if she's young enough and doesn't move around, lay her on a blanket when you change her and just leave her with a bare bottom for a few minutes. If the rash is really bad, call your doctor. They can write you a Rx for a cream that helps clear it up quite fast.
- I had to use cornstarch on my infant. Nothing else seemed to help. I also could not change brands of diapers.
- OK, I know this is going to sound crazy because it did to me when my doc told me but try using Milk of Magnesia. It cleared up my sons rash in a day.
- Give her a warm epsom salt bath it will defently help, that is what I do when my son gets one..
- Vaseline is inexpensive at the Dollar store, after cleaning her up with soap and water, rinse, and apply Vaseline very generously to cover all the rash areas, then the softest possible diaper available, and change as soon as it is wet. You are not saying the age, it would be a good time to put her on the potty if you can catch her before she wets. And when possible leave her without anything on to get air on that bottom, even for a little while
- I would continue to wipe her booty after each poo poo, but I would not use soap...just warm water...the soap can be irritating to the rash. I use Butt Paste (Target has it in the baby section by the lotions and baby powders) on my son. It has the MOST Zinc Oxide of all the booty creams for little ones. It works wonders...the rash should be gone in a day or two after using the Butt Paste. After you get rid of the rash I would use baby powder with cornstarch in it (also at Target in same aisle) for a couple days to help keep her dry. If it doesn't clear up in a couple days you might want to call her Dr. in case it turns into a yeast infection...my son had one from a diaper rash that didn't clear up soon enough. P.S. Make sure to change her very frequently and use the Butt Paste after each poo poo and every other wet diaper. Good luck!!
- put uncooked eggs on it. you'll see it will be gone in a day or 2
- Try to let her go diaper free for short periods of time when you can like right after a bath or if you know she just went change her and let her "go commando" it for a little bit.
- The only the thing that worked for my daughter's rash was baby powder. I tried Balmex, Desitin, Butt Paste, Aveeno, and others. I used the medicated baby powder (from Target), and the rash was completey cleared in 2 days. It works good because it will keep her all of the way dry.
- I would soak her in a tub of water with baking soda the arm and hamor stuff worked best for me. My son had a really bad case of diareaha and nothing worked until one day my crazy grandmother in law told me to do this. It worked so fast. in like less than two days. It isnt harmful to the baby either.
- I have quite possibly bought every butt paste/cream/powder known to man kind. After 3 kids I found the best thing is nothing. I bought viva (by kleenex) paper towels...super super soft and used only water. I let their bottoms dry and air out for a few minutes, then put on a diaper. As soon as I think they are wet I change them. If I think I caught them in the middle of pooping I take them to the changing table and open up the diaper and hold up the legs to lift the bottom a little and let them finish then wipe, so they don't have to sit in it. - My daughter had this same problem. Get Aveeno Soothing Diaper Rash Cream. It will soothe the rash and heal it fast!! I use this all the time on my daughter. The methol help ease the pain. Also when you wipe you daughter after a change use a warm wash cloth or unscented baby wipes warm. It helps a lot.
- make sure you keep area clean and dry, if your in the house let her lay around with no bottoms on the air helps or corn starch,
- my son had really bad diaper rash, his legs and "man parts" were RAW...so i bought some bordeux's (sp?) butt cream, and it works fantastic, got rid of the diaper rash overnight!
- Air her out! Let her play with her bum in the breeze...no joke. Set her on a waterproof blanket (changing pad) and let her go diaper free for 15 minutes a day. It makes a huge difference. My daughter gets "air time" once a day, 10-15 minutes and she stopped getting rashes altogether. Also, if it gets bad- or wont go away-take her to her pediatrician. Some diaper rashes are actually yeast infections or bacterial and will need prescrip drugs to clear up.
- the best thing to use on a diper rash is mixing maalox and aquaphor(vaseline like lotion sold anywhere) . make it into a nice paste, about half and half, and slather it on clean dry baby's butt. it will be dramatically better if not all gone by the next day. i have used this on my kids and so have friends and clients at my job. it is truly amazing! just remember that if it doesnt clear up and gets bumpy, it is probably a yeast infection, also common in babies and toddlers. take to the doctor to make sure for the first time, then buy jockitch cream. it works better than nystatin!
