Diapers Q&A

What's the best diaper cover for cloth diapers?

I am using Premium size prefolds with my 23 pound 10 month old. He has outgrown the covers (Litewraps) and I would like to buy a different brand. The Litewraps were inexpensive, but didn't hold up well. We used the Bummis Super Whisper Wrap when he was smaller and I thought the velcro was a little wimpy. Any suggestions? 1. 23 lbs, and 10 months dang girl, my cousin's son is 3 yrs old and weighs 29-35 lbs girl you need to feed him healthy food, i dunno bout the diaper
  2. I use Proraps, Bummis SWW and homemade woolies. I love my woolies if you know someone who knits or if you knit. You can also make them from thrift store wool--old blazers, peacoats or even sweaters. You just cut out the shape you want and sew them. You can buy patterns or use free patterns from the internet. Wash the sweaters first and felt them really well or they will fray. I like the Proraps, but they're ugly. They hold up so well. After two years of constant abuse, my PUL is just starting wear away near the Velcro. I like Bummis the best, but I agree about the Velcro.
  3. Ugh I don't know about cloth diapers so much, I was just going to read because I am thinking about doing it. Anyway I just want to say my son that is no 14 months old, was 20lbs at 4 months, and I think 25 lbs at 8 months. He is just around 30lbs now. There is NOTHING wrong with how much your baby weighs. Mine was exclusively breastfed until after 6 months, and even at 8 months was eating very few solids. Breastfed babies are basically impossible to overfeed. So your baby's weight is fine, and ignorant @ssholes should just not bother hitting the answer button when they have no info on the question (hehe well I don't, but I just need to yell at that fool)
  4. I Really like the Bummis Super Whisper Wraps. My son is 27 months (30 pounds) and still wears the mediums he got at 6 months (when he was 19 pounds or so). I wash them in hot water and dry on hot in the dryer (not saying you should, I'm just too lazy to seperate them;-) and have never had any problems with them at all. I just fold the prefold lengthwise, fold down the top and stick it in the cover. My son hates snappis, so the poo gets on the covers more than normal, but still no problems!
  5. I agree that Prowraps are the best out there. I am on baby #4 using cloth, and have had my share of leak throughs. I had a variety of brands given to me for showers and such, and the difference is amazing. It's worth the extra $ (I found mine on e-bay, so I saved a little). Their velcro is in no way "wimpy." They also have the fitted elastic around the legs. Just remember not to put them in the dryer, as it shortens the life of the elastic. I also recommend getting/making some doublers for nighttime wetting (you can also reuse them for menstrual rags later). Here is a site on making your own cloth diapering stuff (diapers/woolies/doublers/nursing pads:) http://www.angelfire.com/biz/mothershelpinghands/mypatt.html
  6. I LOVE Bummi's SWW - but always found I needed about a size larger than I expected for baby's weight. I also LOVE wool! LoveyBums (sp?) makes a great wool cover - snaps on. http://loveybums.com/
