Diapers Q&A

Is there any way to get a prescription for a adult diapers?

I have total bladder and bowel incontenence due to a minor spinal injury and wear adult diapers. Recently, I've been running short on money, and I couldn't possibly due without diapers. If I had a Prescription for the diapers, they would be covered in full. If I explain my situation to my doctor, will he prescribe me adult diapers?

  1. yes there are but you need to ask a Dr.
  2. call your doctor's office and speak with the nurse. it is easy to obtain a prescription if your medical records show a documented need.
  3. Yes, and your insurance company will pick up the tab.
  4. He can prescribe them, but if they're available over the counter, you will be directed to purchase them over the counter. Most insurances don't cover over the counter medications, even when they're prescribed.
  5. Yes he should be able to do this for you . You have to have a certain % of disability to qualify for this concession and your income is assessed
  6. Yes but you just need a script that says you have a problem with incontinence.
  7. It's going to take more than a doctor's note to get the insurance company to pay for this one. It will require a full blown report and maybe even a visit to an independent medical examiner of the insurance company's choosing before this will happen. I have had prescriptions refused because they can be purchased without one even though they are kept behind the counter and are dispensed at the pharmacists discretion.
