- Call the airlines and make sure they know you will need assistance. They will be able to help.
- make sure to make arrangements with whatever company your travelling with and let them know your certain needs ahead of time. I would try feeding her and making sure she had a bowel movement before you left so you can get her in a clean diaper before take-off.Your a good son or daughter for taking care of your ma
- It is so hard for those who have to be immobile and have all of the problems they have and wearing diapers is one of the worst. How humiliating it is to wear them. Isn't there some way for you to travel so she can get changed? Please consider her feelings and health problems. It seems as though travel agents should have ideas on this problem. Please make it as easy as you can for her. We just have to have more compassion and UNDERSTANDING for those who have that problem.
- I would contact the airlines disability or special needs department and see if they have suggestions (surely they have had people travel under the same or worse conditions) that would help you. Also ask your mom's primary care physician, nurse, or other medical professional for advice. They might be able to give her something to keep her from going during the 14 hours. If these people can't help, try calling a nursing home or disability organization and ask what their suggestion would be. A thought that just came to mind for urination would be a catheter and for bowel movements would be to make sure her bowels are completely empty before travel by doing a bowel prep and keeping her on a liquid diet during the flight. I sure hope this helps, I understand that it can be difficult---Good Luck and Happy, Safe, Travels.
- You don't say how you are traveling. A 14 hour airline flight is a very long distance non-stop. I mean when I was in the military back in the 60's a 12 hour flight took me to Viet Nam. Either way, make sure you get with the airline or whatever and talk with them and make sure they understand the situation and have them make arrangements for a person of "special needs". They should have provisions to help you with this particular prolem. Good luck.
