  1. Interesting question, (* given to you) There are two options based on what type of stool (poop) she has. If very soft, liquid, or diarrhea: There is an item called a rectal pouch. This has an adhessive that surrounds the anus on the outside making a seal to prevent leaks or smell escaping. Attached to the seal is a special type of bag that takes the "stool" from your mom into a tube that empties into a bag. This bag can be worn under the clothes attached to the leg. The bag can be emptied once a day or more often if needed, but usually it is enough to hold for one full day. For urine there are catheters that can be inserted that also attach to a similar tube/bag that attaches to the leg. See a health profesional for insertion techniques and supplies. If your mom has solid "stool" It is more tricky. Talk to a physician about loperamide which essentially stops GI motility (stops your bowels from moving things through). I personally don't reccomend doing this, but if it is your only option, what else can you do.
  2. You don't say how you are traveling. A 14 hour airline flight is a very long distance non-stop. I mean when I was in the military back in the 60's a 12 hour flight took me to Viet Nam. Either way, make sure you get with the airline or whatever and talk with them and make sure they understand the situation and have them make arrangements for a person of "special needs". They should have provisions to help you with this particular prolem. Good luck.
