Diapers Q&A

Which diaper disposal system did you like?

I have been reading reviews on many diaper disposal systems. Which one or what worked best for you? My main concern is keeping out smells and not having to empty daily. Your experiences will really help me out! Thanks!

  1. Diaper Genie disposal system is pretty nice. Requires disposal every few days, but generally keeps bad smells down. Good luck.
  2. Safety 1st Neat! Diaper Disposal System I tried the Diaper Genie even after being warned and boy was that a mistake! The odor just oozed out of the bags - even with little infants. The only problem with the Safety 1st is that you get a whiff of the smell in the pail when you open it to put a new diaper in - but you never smell it otherwise- no matter how full it is. Hope this helps.
  3. Nappy sacks. Then throw away in the outside bin. No smells!
  4. We have a diaper genie, and it works fine for us, but I really don't like the smell of the bags/refills. We practice Elimination Communication with our son though, so there are rarely any diapers going into it to start with. Most messes go straight into the potty instead of into diapers, then are dumped and rinsed right away.
  5. We are going to buy a Diaper Champ.... I did all sorts of research and asked freinds with babies, and that is what they all suggested. Everyone said the smell wasn't bad and it was nice because you don't have to be specific refills; you can use any plastic bag. So that is what I am fixing to buy... they have them at Walmart for $28.
  6. We have a covered garbage can outside our back door. Just take it to the curb once a week!
  7. We like the diaper champ because you don't have to use "special" bags - you can use regular garbage bags. besides, all you really need the disposal systems for is the poopy diapers... the pee-pee diapers you can just use a plastic grocery bag and toss them in the regular garbage.
  8. I can't remember what brand we had but honestly, just put a trash can outside your back door and take it to the curb once a week. None of the diaper disposal systems eliminate the odor. You still have to change the bag and when you do the smell gets in the air so what you were trying to stop happens anyway. I think you should save your money for other things.
  9. Diaper Dekor Plus has worked well for us. We change the "bag" (it's a long long plastic bag that you cut and tie as you change it) about once every 10 days to two weeks. People say the refills are expensive, but you RARELY have to refill. We replaced the first whole bag at a little over 3 months. The refills are roughly 22 dollars for a three pack (so, you figure 22 dollars for about 9 months worth of use). Everything is very easy to use and empty, and keeps the smells out great, but, whoa! Watch out when you DO go to empty it. That stuffs been festering for a while! Which, I guess, is a testament to how well it works. I worked for a family that had a Diaper Genie, and I wasn't really impressed, to be honest. I know Target.com has a bunch of reviews on their site...at the bottom of each product they have what people have written. There's a star rating, too, so you can quickly see if something looks to be on the low side of approval or not. That's how I ended up getting the Diaper Dekor Plus over everything else.
  10. Plastic bags and a garbage can.
