Diapers Q&A

How can I get my 3 1/2 to stop having accidents?

She was potty trained last October, but now she has "wets her panties" on a daily basis. I have tried using rewards, taking away privleges/toys, time-outs but nothing seems to work. Even when I sit her on the potty every hour she does it! Has any one else had this problem? What can I do? I am really frustrated! I am afraid that I may have tried potty training when she wasn't ready. She never showed any interest in it, but I finally bit the bullet and trained her because I thought she was too old for diapers. I am worried that she wasn't ready and that is the reason I am having the problems now. Her doctor says she is just fine. Any suggestions?

  1. eh kids do this at times. simply start letting her clean herself up and she should be okay. she will probly outgrow the problem, anyway. bring her to the potty at regular times. if cleaning sheets and such bothers you, just use good nights for now.
  2. my 3 yr old has been potty trained for about a yr and she still has times for a week or so she will refuse to go to the potty. i have done everything you have listed above also and it didnt work. it might seem mean to some ppl but i popped my daughter on her butt when she would do it and tell her that good little girls dont go potty in their panties. then ask her who in the family still goes potty in there panties. i.e. me, her grandma, her aunt.... and when she says no one then i asked her if she wanted to me like me and grammy and aunt ashley. she 'd think it over and after about a week or two of me doing this she finally quit. the only problem i'm having now is at nighttime. but good luck.
  3. My little one is 4 and she still wets herself. I always praise her for going to the toilet. By doing this she tries to go potty all the time. I watch what she drinks, when she drinks and how much she drinks. I also got her poop pattern down. And i just simply remind her to use the potty. Your doing a good job. And i trained her at 3 so you are on track. Your a good parent. Your child is very lucky that you are doing this.
  4. Was she okay after you started the training. My daughter just potty trained herself, and my mom was telling to expect her to regress a little at somepoint because it's common for children to do that. Maybe she wants to be babied again... Or is it that she is getting so engrossed in what she's doing that it's hard for her to remember to go? If so, then just remind her. it's normal, so relax!
  5. She's only 3...she's going to be having accidents for awhile.
