Breastfeed baby and Kushies AIO diapers?
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using these cloth diapers with a breastfed baby? I have heard mixed reviews about these being able to contain breastfed BM, I would like to hear some opinions about this before I decide to order a few of these diapers. I would like to try to breastfeed and cloth diaper, but I want something that my husband is going to be able to change, so pins and folding aren't really an option. Thanks for your help!

- I don't breastfeed but I've tried Kushies with my son. They are the cheapest of cloth diapers and while they are ok, I prefer other diapers, like Fuzzibunz. You do get what you pay for, and in the case of Kushies, they're not the best. They also wear out faster and require you to buy new ones. Because I wasn't able to afford the higher end cloth diapers right away, I switched to disposables after I found myself unhappy with the Kushies after a month or two.
- I use bumGenius AIO One size diapers and I love them. (I know this isn't exactly answering your questions but I"ve never used Kushies). My baby is breastfed, and I've never had any problems with leaks. (well, usually a leak indicates to change the size). My husband is similar to yours--and he actually uses these. The only (BIG) problem is the price. Yikes! If you want to try some different diapers out, check out www.jilliansdrawers.com. They have a program where you can try out different diapers and return the ones you don't like.
- I had some hand-me-down Kushies when my DD was little. They are the cheapest for a reason! THe waterproofing wears out much faster than any other cover/AIO/Pocket i've ever used. Very few people use pins anymore!-) My favorite option of all time was a fitted diaper (try http://www.Zoombabygear.com ) and a pair of fleece pants, or a PUL or wool cover. For squeamish husbands BumGenius 2.0 or a pocket (that you prestuff as soon as its out of the dryer) such as Happy Heinys or FuzziBunz might be the way to go. We started out with plain old prefolds and Bummis Super Whisper Wraps and when I started pockets and fitteds my DH rebeled and stuck with the prefolds!-)
- I used Kushies AIO diapers for about 4 months. My daughter is breast fed and I didn't have any trouble with the diapers leaking when she was young and only on milk. When she got older and started crawling her legs got too skinny and then there were leaks around the legs. I changed diapers because it was getting way too messy! The other problem with the Kushies was that they were really bulky and took forever to dry when you washed them. Also, the way that the PUL outerlayer touches the babies leg can lead to a red, raw spots when they get mobile. Also, they can't be used overnight, they are nowhere near absorbent enough. I switched to a variety of pocket diapers and really like them. Check out Swaddlebees, Baby Kangas, Berry Plush and bumGenius. If money is a concern look at the one-size diapers (Baby Kangas and bumGenius are OS), they are more money up front, but you don't have to buy another one or two sets of sizes in the future.
