Diapers Q&A

My daughter needs help, can someone give me advice?

I have a 2 year old and she started telling me that it hurts when she pees. I'm really worried about her, but I can't take her to the doctor right now, I don't have insurance or the money to pay for it, even with the discount. Can someone help me make her comfortable until I can go get her Quest, or at least until Friday when my husband gets paid? I know what she really needs is medical help, but I just can't, we're living paycheck to paycheck, and I'm in far enough debt, please, I really need to know what to do... I'm so worried about her. I bathe her daily, and make sure to wash her EVERYWHERE, I change her diapers as soon as they're wet, wipe her butt CLEAN when she messes, and I have no idea what's wrong. She may be dehydrated, but I can't get her to drink anymore water than she already drinks, and she won't touch juice. She hardly wet her diaper today, and complains that her 'she she hurts'. Advice anyone? She's not screaming in pain, or crying, which is the only reason I haven't taken her to the doctor yet. She just hasn't peed very often and only mentions it once or twice a day, that's why I felt it was ok to wait a little.

  1. I know that you said that you can't afford to take her to the doctor, but I would take her. Every hospital (in the US) has to provide medical care, regardless of ability to pay. I would take her to the ER and when you register, ask for the forms that you need to fill out. They may cover your entire cost, or at least most of it. I know that it must be terrible for you to know that your daughter needs help, but not being able to afford it... but you can't ket that stand in your way. It sounds to me like she might have a urinary tract infection, which is usually harmless. BUT it could be something worse, and you don't want to take your chances... Good luck
  2. i say let it go till u get doctors advice it may just be a little girl thing or she got a invisibly rash from someone(maybe a babysitter)ignoring her wet diaper.
  3. Hmmm, I understand where you are coming from, but please put yourself in your daughter's shoes...IT HURTS TO PEE!!! Haven't you ever been in that position before? It is horrible for an adult. I cannot imangine a 2 yr old. She needs help and you are her mother...give it to her! Call her doctor and ask if you can give them a post-dated check. Borrow the money off of family. Go to a check cashing place. Just don't let your child wallow in pain because you don't have the money.
  4. u need to get her on medicaid fast but it sounds like a uninary tract infection to me
  5. Could be several things. A bladder infection or UTI maybe? Take her to the hospital. Even with no insurance, by law, they have to see her.
  6. Is she red down there? if so apply Vaseline. if not then..... she may have an bladder infection. and well cranberry juice in at least in her food (as I know u said she wont drink juice) and any liquid will help Popsicles? Gatorade? or powerade.? I have 3 kids and experiance. I have a son that has bladder infections almost every month and My 4 year old daughter has had 2 bladder infections and you can help it along ~until u can see a doctor.
  7. I really think you should take her to the ER..at her young age with such a discomfort, poor little girl. It sounds to me like she might have a urinary tract infection and as somebody who suffers from them quite frequently, I would say take her the sooner the better. Also, even without insurance they have to see her and will most likely send you a bill, but as a parent you'll be able to sleep at night knowing you're little one is ok. Good luck!
  8. is there a health department near you or an urgent clinic care (both go by your income)that you could take her to? if not...take her to the er(i know you don't want a bill but hospitals actually writes debt off and this is not a major factor when determining your credit) if they prescribe her any medicine, go to walmart pharmacy where it will be very affordable for you. tried giving her flavored water? and make sure you wipe her from front to back. good luck!
  9. Take her to the ER she may have a UTI or an infection that can turn into a Bladder or Kidney infection and then you will have no alternative to take her to the hospital. I iknow you have money but usually they will not ask for the money up front you can be billed which will not come to you probably for at least 2-4 weeks you can always make a payment plan with the hospital then also the hospital will be able to help you get on some kind of state help. I would apply for mediciad on Monday, they wil pay any medical bills and also any up to 3 months before you applied also if you don't qualify for that you can apply for state insurance through (InsureKidsNow.Com) You put your state in you live in and they will tell you what type of Private Medical Plans and how to apply for them for children without insurance, where you pay a fee each month 15.00 or 20.00 its like a private health paln through the state for kids, and you may have to pay co-pays for drs or prescriptions like 3.00 or 5.00 or non at all. 10. Little kids do have yeast infections just like adults! My god-daughter had a realllly bad one recently. Do you think that someone could be touching her? Maybe you're rubbing too hard during baths or maybe she's irritated by what you wash her with? Not to scare you, but you are her mother and you have to weigh out all of the scenarios. Another thing...don't want to offend you, but could she possibly have been born with Herpes and may have an outbreak(all too common)? They usually don't test a baby when they are born, and it usually isn't included in the lab work during your pregnancy! Maybe some vaginal, bladder, or rectal internal issues? I had a family member that had her vaginal wall collapse when she was 3ish and she kept complaining of discomfort and then couldn't urinate, resulted in major surgery as a baby! If she doesn't want the water, try Pedialyte, You need to replenish what she is losing, and now, what she isn't getting because if you do take her to the dr and she is too dehydrated, they are going to do an IV and that is even more $$ and traumatic to both you and her. Try it in the pop form which will be the easiest to get her to take. There are off brands if you want to save a few bucks. If she doesn't like candy, maybe try the unflavored and pour in her favorite beverage. If you are living paycheck to paycheck, you should qualify for medicaid. If you take her to the dr. they should bill you later anyway! Maybe try to take her to the clinic or your local urgent care. I am a nurse and I feel bad that I can't help! Best of Luck to You and the Baby!!
  11. If you are washing her everywhere, then she may be too "dry" because of the soap. This can cause irritation and pain. Omit the soap in that area, and let the water do the washing. Let her air dry, and then rub in some lotion made for sensitive areas. In the mean time, encourage her to drink clear fluids, like koolaid to help wash impurities from her system inside. She sounds like she is dehydrated, so make sure you give her fluids. Pedialyte is a good one. If this doesn't do the trick in a day or so, then she will need to see the dr. even if you can't afford it. Better to go now than to have her in the hospital later.
  12. call her doctor and ask if they will take a payment on payday? she could have a bladder infection.
  13. you can go to the ER and get the bill later when you have the money or go to a free clinic in your area. If you call 211 they will tell you where the nearest free clinic is. Anyway, even if it is mild pain, she pay have a UTI and def needs to be checked by a doctor. Also, do you put bubbles in her bath? My daughter used to get irritated when she had a bubble bath so that may be it as well. Good luck!♥
  14. Don't let her take baths with bubbles, drink a lot of fluid and she really needs a doctor, it sounds like a UTI and they hurt BADLY!!!!!!! Cranberry juice is helpful but she really needs medicine. Tylenol can maybe help a little but not really. Try to get fluids in her maybe through Jello or a soup, or a flavored drink she likes, she needs to have fluids. This can be serious if she isn't treated. The reason shes not peeing is because it has gone to a worse infection. There are clinics that can help her for free, you need to get her to one. There are also physicians willing to do payment plans, she really needs a doctor, this hurts REALLY BAD!!!!!! It stings, make sure to always wipe her from front to back, it is common if feces get toward the front it can cause this kind of infection. You don't want to ignore it.
