Bum Genius Cloth Diapers Questions
Bum Genius cloth diapers- How to use the snap insert? How to wash 1st time? I just got my bumgenious cloth diapers in the mail. THey came with two inserts. One has snaps and one does not. I can't figure out how to use them. I don't see any snaps on the diapers? How do I use them? How do I wash them the first time and should I wash them more than once before use? Thanks! Is there a certain type of detergent I should use for the cloth diapers?
Just bought a bunch of used Bum Genius Cloth Diapers, Should I strip them? I just bought 15 used Bum Genius off an acquaintance of mine. I would like to know if I should wash these as has been recommended to me by most of the diaper sites with Purex free and clear or should I strip them 1st than wash them. I am not sure what I should do or if I'm being too picky. Our Daughter isn't due until Dec so I have some time to get opinions on this. Thanks! Stripping is simply getting the soap out of diapers. Some people only use hot water over and over until you don't see any suds. Others will use hot water with a squirt of Dawn Dish soap in the water. It depends....there seems to be several methods out there. Can we try to be nice here? Some people are newish to CD (like me) and don't know all the ends and outs here. Unless someone gives REALLY REALLY Bad advice (like Cloth must be washed in Bleach at all times) I see no reason for giving a thumbs down.
What do you like most about Fuzzi Bunz cloth diapers? I recently bought 4 of them, but have been using Bum Genius cloth diapers. The BG diapers have been leaking every now and then. I'm thinking about selling all of my BG diapers and just investing in only Fuzzi Bunz. I hear a lot of people love them, but I just want to know why? So far, I have found that they are softer.
How do you like ur bum genius diapers? How many did you buy? did you need to buy inserts? How do you like them compared to other types of cloth diapers? When I bought prefolds for my first baby I bought 4 doz to get me through 3- 4 days. I'm assuming I will need about that many so I'm not washing daily. How many did you buy? Just wondering because they're a little pricey. Also, do they really fit good from newborn to toddler? Thanks!
Question for moms that use cloth or washable diapers? I just was able to get 4 one size Bum Genius reusable diapers and 6 inserts for free! My question is for the moms that successfully used similar diapers, how many should I get? I know 4 is not enough. And also has anyone used Bum Genius diapers, and if so how are they? Last question is do you have any tips on using cloth diapers? I have a 4yo that I used disposable diapers on but I do not want to go that route again with this baby. --Thanks.
What kind of soap do you use on your cloth diapers? Just curious. I got my Bum Genius 3.0s in the mail today and I was reading the instructions. It said to use soap that contained no dye or enzymes. I've been using regular Tide on all of my other cloth diapers (gDiapers & Bum Genius 2.0s). What do you use?
Bum Genius 2.0 (one sized) cloth diapers? Does anyone have expierence with theese diapers. I am expecting a baby and I am in love with theese diapers how well do they work on a newborn. I know that on the website they recommend getting a diaper doubler until the baby reaches 10 pounds. Anyone have any expierence with theese one way or another? Would love to hear them!
What did you do about the leg elastic on cloth diapers coming loose? I have bum genius diapers. The leg elastic is loose on 2 of the diapers. I have owned these a month and a half and followed all washing and care directions. I am going to call the company today to inquire about free replacement, but I was just wondering if anyone here has gone through this and what would be suggested.
Cloth diaper users: how do I get the poop smell out of my diapers? I have two FuzziBunz AIO that seem to smell like poop still. Right now the way I was my diapers is I dump any loose feces in the toilet, keep my diapers in a dry bucket and I do laundry every night or every other night at the longest. I keep baking powder in my bucket. I do a cold rinse then a hot wash where I add 1/2 cup baking soda then another cold rinse where I add 1/3 cup white vinegar then a final cold rinse. I then dry them on high heat for 60-90 minutes. What should I being doing differently? I don't seem to have the same problem with my pre-folds or my bum genius diapers. Thanks! I forgot to mention that along with the baking soda I also put in detergent in the hot wash cycle
What is the best brand of all in one cloth diapers? I tried the bumpkins for my son. I gave up & switched to disposables because he kept getting diaper rashes. We are expecting another baby in Oct. & would like to try the cloth diapers again. I need to know from experience which brand has the best absorbancy & holds up well in the washer & dryer. I'm considering Fuzzi Bunz or Bum Genius. These diapers are expensive & I want to purchase the right kind this time. I hope someone can help..
Cloth Diapers?????? I am about to have a baby in less than two weeks. I want to stick with my decision on exclusivly using cloth diapers. My sister in law baught me some Bum Genius diapers. What other brands are good and has anyone have positive feedback to give me on using cloth diapers???
does the bum genius come with everything? Im on cottonbabies.com and i want to order the Bum Genius one size cloth diaper but it doesnt say if it comes with the liner or anything. i never used cloth so i want to make sure it comes with it My baby is not a newborn. she is almost 2 years old but i want to start using this on her. Not going to potty train until later
What kind of detergent do you wash Bum Genius 3.0 diapers in? I am new to cloth diapers. I just got my daughter some BumGenius 3.0 diapers and was wondering what I kind of detergent I need to wash them in? I have some sports detergent...is it ok to wash them in that? Can I use it every time? I have very hard water...do I need to add baking soda or vinegar? If so how much? If I get stains on them what can I use (other than sunlight) to remove them? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to learn to do this right.
Where can i find inexpensive or gently used cloth diapers? I love these new all in one, one size fits all clothe diapers. My friend is using the Bum Genius ones, but they are so pricey to invest in before I have settled on cloth. Is there anywhere i can get some fairly inexpensive before commiting to spending the $500 on the good ones? does anyone have any for sale. I have tried e-bay and they have some knock off brands and home made ones. I am not sure how I feel about that. Any suggestions??
What's your favorite brand of cloth diapers? ? I've gotten some Bum genius and Blue Penguin diapers and I really like them, but they don't come in XL sizes and my 1 1/2 year old has outgrown his large and all-in-one diapers. Does anyone know of a good brand that comes in larger sizes, for a child thats 30-35+ lbs?
Has anyone used both Fuzzibunz and Bum Genius? Which did you prefer and why? I have an 11 month old son and have chosen cloth diapers to help the enviroment (and our budget!). He mainly wears fuzzibunz and so far they are by far the best cloth diaper imo. I recently was introduced to Bum Genius and liked some of their features as well. Has anyone ever used both? Which did you like best? In particular how well did they line dry and how well did stains come out?
Can you use baby powder with cloth diapers? I know you can't use creams. I have a variety of pocket style diapers right now, and am getting more of the bum genius 3.0's. Will powder effect the absorbency of the diapers?
Another question about cloth diapers? I am planning on useing cloth diapers for my baby. I would like to start buying them now, while I'm still pregnant. My two other children weighed almost 9 pounds each whn they were born. I am leaning towards Fuzzi Bunz, but have bought a sample pack of others. How many smalls should I buy? I was going to get a starter set with 18, but it is quite expensive and I'm worried my child will grow out of them before I get my money's worth. Any Recommendations. I also bought some diapers off craigslist from a lady that decided not to cloth diaper after her daycare said she had to bring in disposables. Here's the diapers I have so far. 1 Small Fuzzi Bunz, 1 Bum Genius 2.0, 1 Small Knickernappie, 1small Happy Heinies, 1 Small drybees (these were all from the sampler. I also have 1med fuzzi bunz, 1med little lambs, 1 med bumkins, 5 med kushies, 2 large babykins, 4 large cottontails, 6 xl bumkins, 2 wahms (not sure what size yet) and 1 kushies diaper cover.
Cloth diaper question? I have been the cloth diaper brand Bum Genius. My son is a heavy wetter at night and I have just been using 2 inserts. I invested in some doublers, so I don't have to continue using the inserts of other diapers, but they seem thinner. Does anybody else use Bum Genius doublers? Should I use 2?
cloth diaper users?? please only cd users answers only, eveyone else is wasting their time!! i purchased some used cloth dipers from a "sorta friend". more like an aquantint. they have such a funky smell to them. they are bumkins and i only gave her 5$ a diaper. it smells like an animal. i just wanted to know if anyone might know what the smell might be from? i use bum genius diapers, swaddlebees, drybees, and the old fashion plastic pants, and i have never had a smell problem. mine dont have any smell. please help me find out what it could be, so i can clean it up?? can i put bleach in with my bumkins, they have patterns on them, i have gentle care bleach..
Cloth diapering? I want to cloth diaper, but I can't afford the more expensive, nicer cloth diapers like Bum Genius. So I'm going the old fashion route! However, I can't find places that sell just regular pre-folds, inserts, or diaper covers! Can someone direct me to a few of these places please! Thanks!
cloth diaper leaks? i just spent so much money on new cloth diapers called bum genius but the damn things leaked within 10 minutes of my baby having it on. what did i do wrong? its suppose to be the best one out there (aio) but i just dont get it. it seemed to come out the front. i put it on tight enough too.
Help with washing cloth diapers? How do you wash your cloth diapers, especially if you use more than one kind. I am so confused. I have bum genius 3.0 one size diapers and a happy heiny, and an getting some prefolds with covers as well. The two pocket diapers came today, but have conflicting washing instructions. One says to use a natural soap or an "all free" detergent, and the other says specifically not to use a natural soap or all free detergent, just to use regular tide?? Any help?? here is what the bum genius site said: What detergent can I use? You should only use detergents that are free of dyes, enzymes, perfumes, whiteners and brighteners. Using detergents containing these ingredients will cause damage to your diaper including elastic failure and leaking. Then happy Heinies says this: ecommended detergents: We recommend Tide, Sunlight, Cheer, Era, and Clout (Costco brand). These are not made with any of the natural oily substances which leave residue on fleece. Detergents to avoid: Natural soaps often contain various oils. These should NOT be used because they will leave a residue on fleece, causing it to repel liquids. The following detergents will cause a soap build up. Do NOT use them. * Dr. Bronner’s Soap * 7th Generation * Bio-Kleen * Ivory Snow * Dreft * Any ALL free detergents. * Sport-Wash and Sensi-Clean – These have the potential for detergent burn in babies
I have a question about cloth diapers...? I am about 35 weeks with #1 and I still need diapers! I'm thinking of getting either bum genius or happy heiny pocket diapers. I am wondering whether just to buy 12 of each, or try other brands. I've read many reviews on both brands and they seem to be the best. Any suggestions?
Cloth Diapering a Newborn, which diapers? After researching about which cloth diapers seem to be the best, we decided to get the: Bum Genius 3.0 One Size pocket diaper, Fuzzibuns new small pocket diaper, and hemp/fleece infant prefolds with Bumpkin covers. Thinking about getting the 12 pack in the Bum Genius, 12 pack in the fuzzibuns, 5 covers (only the prefolds I'm getting need covers), and 24 prefolds. 1st, is this a good number to start with for a newborn? I would want to launder every 2 1/2, 3 days. 2nd, does anyone know if the Bum Genius 3.0 one size is too big for a newborn, or if the fuzzibuns are? 3rd, does anyone know if the Bum Genius 3.0 or the fuzzibuns are okay to use for a baby with an umbilical chord, can they be folded down? If anyone has any answers to even one of these questions it would help alot, Thanks!
Nighttime cloth diapers? I have a three month old and we've been cloth diapering... which I love. Lately the diapers I've been using at night time just aren't cutting it. She's leaking through them everytime. I've been using the bum genius all-in-ones, with the pocket. So... I'm in the market for new night time diapers. Any suggestions? Also... a little side note - my daughter is big for her age. She's into the 6 month old clothes at 3 months... Thanks in advance for the help!
What are the best cloth diapers for a newborn? We will be using the bum genius 2.0 one sized diapers but I have heard that they don't fit a newborn as well, and I would like something that would stay away from our babies umbilicial cord. Any suggestions? There isn't a diaper service in this area, and I am fully capable of washing my own diapers.. my husband is a big help as well and has no problems with this. I am not interested in using disposables.. so I don't care what your expierence was with huggies or luvs. ;) Not trying to be rude, but just putting in the correct info so hopefully can get the right educated answers. Thanks very much.
Cloth diapers - what kinds do you hate? Just curious what you have had a bad experience with. I have don't like Bum Genius because they are too bulky on my 6 month old. I don't like GDiapers because I hate having to buy the disposable liners. I'm also not sure if I want to mess with prefolds and covers. I've also heard awful things about Bumkins, not to mention how expensive they are. Not sure what to try next because I really don't want to go with disposables.
Does anyone know how to use the wonderoo diapers? I am thinking of purchasing some wonderoo cloth diapers. They have two inserts that are snapped together, but different sizes. Do you use both inserts or just one in the diaper? If you use both does the small one face the baby or the diaper? Also, does these two inserts REALLY work? I want to go cloth for environmental reasons, but I wonder if they really work. I don't want to be changing clothes as often as I change diapers because of leaks. Also, I was thinking of purchasing some additional liners that are just oval (like bum genius). I can't find a place that sells the inserts for the wonderoos (because they don't make them anymore). Will the bum genius ones work ok? Also, what are your recommendations at night? I was thinking of using disposables at night to prevent leaks. I have looked online and I find places where they say that the wonderoos will be ok at night if you use extra stuffing. How much extra? And will they really work at night without leaking?
Which cloth diapers? I would like start to use the cloth diapers for my son,but there are so many brand that i don`t know which choose.I was looking for the ONE SIZE by Baby kangas,Bum genius,Haute pockets and babykicks. Do someone use one of this brads? Thanks!
Bum Genius on little babies? We recently found out we are expecting again and since I've started using cloth on my 8 month old and already decided I really like the bum genius one size diapers, I was thinking of just getting more of those and use them for both babies. First, how many do you think I will need (my eight month old only has 3 one size diapers- the rest are other pockets and prefolds) and also, how do the bum genius one size diapers really work on the tiny ones? My first daughter was 8 lbs 4 oz, so I am not expecting a really teensy baby this time either..but will they be too bulky? any experience? Thank You!!
Which cloth diapers do you prefer? I am looking into Bum Genius, but have heard great things about Fuzzi Buns. What do you use / prefer? Birdflippin - Your link isn't working correctly. What's the brand you use? Based on genetics (I was born 9 lbs. and hubby was also a chubby baby) we will most likely have a fat baby - if that makes a difference. :)
What brand of cloth diaper do you recommend? I think I'd probably prefer a pocket diaper the best, with a waterproof outer layer so I don't have to use diaper covers. So many out there...would you recommend Fuzzi Bunz, Happy Heinys, GADs, Drybees, Bum Genius, Swaddlebees, Snap-EZ? There are SO many brands and I've never diapered before so I have no idea!!
cloth diapering moms? I have an 8 month old in diapers and recently found out there is another baby on the way! I use the bum genius one size diapers, and was wondering how many I will need to diaper both babies. Thanks!!
Which cloth diaper do you like best? Ok so far I'm looking at swaddlebees, fuzzi bunz, bum genius 2.0, happy heinies, and haute pockets and kushies. I have bought a sampler pack and I also am picking up some that I bought from a lady that decided not to cloth diaper. She also has an assortment. I would just like to know what other people like and why. If you only have negative things to say about cloth diapers, please keep your answer to yourself. Thank You.
cloth diapering--any tips for a first timer?? i'm bent on cloth diapering, have about a dozen fleece contours (med i think), half dozen small fitteds, half dozen thick fleece doublers, 2 dozen thin fleece liners, one med cover, 2 small covers, 3 one-size pockets, 1 small pocket... i *think* i'm going to like the Bum Genius one size pocket diapers the best but that will depend on how they end up fitting! anyhow, i know i need to get more, but do i have enough to start out?? also, should i get anything else? do you have any other tips? i'm sure i'll get the hang of it, but i want to be *completely* prepared for the first couple weeks of diapering at least... thanks a bunch!! also, do you think it's a good idea to cut cotton flannel "liners" that can be thrown away--to use the first week or so with meconium? or should i just use disposables during that time? or...?
Please help! Which cloth diaper? I'm 28 weeks pregnant with my little girl. Since I am planning to be a stay-at-home mommy, my husband and I will be working with a one-income budget. Consquently, we want to use cloth diapers...the question is...WHICH ONES? There are so many! We are thinking of using 'One Size Pocket Diapers' (like Happy Heinys and Bum Genius) or All-In-Ones...what do you think? What type worked best for you and what brand? Thanks so much for your help!
Help with cloth diapering, how to tell if they fit right? any tips? (repost 4 more help) i've always planned to cloth diaper, but i feel so overwhelmed! at first, everything seemed too big for my baby, but now she's already outgrown some of the cloth dipes i had gotten. i used one once (a knicker nappies pocket diaper) and it leaked SO bad, urine up her whole back. it was because the lining wasn't tucked in & it wicked, but with the insert i couldn't get everything tucked in. the inserts are so bulky on such a little one! i still want to try it, though. i HATE using disposables.they smell so stinky--all chemical-y; the ones that i've found that don't leak poo everywhere smell the worst!! ugh! and they leave bad marks all over my baby & just seem so uncomfy (i hated wearing pads after the birth for so many weeks--i can't imagine having to wear something similar for YEARS!) anyway, i have a few one size pocket dipes (a baby kanga, a bum genius, and a happy heiney) and a lot of covers... anytips for me?? how are they supposed to fit? btw, i've been shopping for new from this site: http://clothdiaperoutlet.com/ how do you think it compares? is it a decent source? i've gotten a lot of used covers, though, in all sizes. (about a dozen each size) are flat prefolds good inside those? do you just lay them in the middle where you want absorbency? what about poo? it seems it would just run off the liner & out the leg hole, does it?? btw, i have a 3 month old, about 15 lbs. some i could barely velcro shut, so i assumed those were outgrown already, but just a few weeks prior they seemed too big! she did grow fast... they don't seem to fit snug around the legs... btw, whats UCPF ? somethign about prefolds?
How often to you wash your cloth aio? I have been using disposables with my now 18 month old, but am looking for a money saving diaper system for baby #2 April 09. I like the idea of all-in-ones such as bum genius, but they are expensive to buy in bulk. if you use bum genious or similar aio how many do you go thru in the day, how many do you have to use, and how often do you wash them? thanks.
What is a good detergent for cloth diaperering? I am using Bum genius 3.0's and am wondering what is a good one to extend the life of my diapers? i want them to be as soft and absorbant as possible.we currently use all free and clear and heard that all f+c Military is the best but do not know where to find that off of a military base. I may try Planet as well. I will be moving soon to a area with well water and know that some det. do not work well in hard water. any experience with planet or All det anyone? any suggestions would be great. i am new to this and would love to hear about some great det. options. Thanks guys!!
Cloth diapers? So, I'm flirting with the idea of cloth diapering. I like the bum genius ones that you can adjust to fit as the baby grows, and the happy heinys are so cute that I might get one or two of those just for fun. My husband thinks I am insane. I slightly question my sanity too...but I figure they will cut down on costs and like some of the other benefits as well. If you use cloth, do you find them to be a hassle or do you like them? AND how do I convince hubby that I have not gone completely batty for wanting to give them a try? My daughter is 7 months old...at this point would it even be more cost effective? And how well do they contain messes? My girl can do some diaper damage!! lol. Any insight/advice/experience would be appreciated. thanks!!
Cloth Diapers...? This is to anyone who has diapered their little ones with cloth. I know what brand I want to use, Bum Genius 3.0 The problem I am having is finding a website that is user friendly for a registry. Has anyone used a website register for their cloth diapers? Thanks To Easy...give me a break...You must have done something wrong to have cloth cost you more. It's better on the wallet, it's better for the baby, not to mention how much better it is for the environment
cloth diapers? I want to use clothe diapers and I really like the happy hainy's one size, fuzzy bunz, hauty pockets and bum genius. I'm really interested the most on Happy Hainy's one size the best but i cant seem to find any of them affordable to me so i was wondering if any body knows of a place or website with affordable prices. Sorry about the grammar english is my 2nd language.

I want something that don't wet her clothes, they don't hurt her legs and they don't cause rashes, they need to be very comfortable and and easy to wash. I mean that I don't want them to get stains and if is possible. Thank u!!
For those with experience using cloth diapers? What brands have you used and what are the pros and cons of them? I am specifically considering the Bum Genius 3.0 and the Happy Heiny's one size, but am open to hearing about different brands. Thanks so much
